Just watched part of the replay which is archived. The Caruso interview was pretty hilarious, mostly because of the gum or tobacco chewing that seemed to be accentuating every comment.

So did the Tommies want to center the ball on the last play and he went too far to the right?

Do you have a link for the replay?

Go to mnsportsnetwork.com and scroll down a bit to the Saturday broadcast archives and it'll be there. The WCCO audio goes out on the last drive but fortunately for Johnnie fans who want to hear Lee's dejected call, comes back in time for the final few plays.

Congrats to all the winners today!  It sounds like a good one at O Shag Hennesy Stadium.  The St. Olaf radio team compared the Tommies to the Johnnies of the past.  They said they were the team that everyone wanted to beat.  I heard a lot of praise for Concordia today.

I am hoping with the OOC record and wide open race it could be a year we see 3 MIAC teams in the playoffs.

Thank goodness for D3 football because there have been some horrible FBS games so far this year.  I miss going to the MIAC games big time.  It was inexpensive solid entertainment.

So, any predictions on where the MIAC teams are in the Top 25 next week?

Ask Ron Doney. No wait. Don't!   ;D

The Tommies are the obvious choice to be ranked 1A* this week....,after all they have the 3-time Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year on the sideline... ::)

* When vote count is within a couple, then the voters must have indicated somehow that 1 &2 are virtually the same,so why not just call them co-number one for that week....
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Who's due for a new stadium?  Olaf?  Use Mary Hardin-Baylor as a guide.  No track, the student union is 30 feet from the sideline, locker rooms under the grandstand.  Redonkulous.

Taj Mahal of D3 is right. Those are some nice digs. And as Keith said, if they can fill that place, more power to 'em!

Do you really think St. Olaf would do anything like that for athletics?  It would be nice, but I doubt it happens.  I am guessing they are going to try to get a few small high school football playoff games with it.  It is a little small for most other events in Texas.  It definitely helps UMHB build their identity.  UMHB for years had the stigma of being an all girls school.  It was one of the reasons football was added.  That stadium is on par with several high school stadiums in the region.  I will try to head down for a game later this year.  I've got a friend that is UMHB alum.  If you ever want to turn a UMHB fan purple then call them the Baylor Bears.  If Olaf was going to build a new stadium I would hope they would follow the plan for Friso ISD's new football stadium.  They already have the one that hosts the MLS team, and now they are working with the Cowboys to get a domed stadium.
Maybe just copy Gustavus' stadium, that fits the current fanbase pretty well.  I love the Texas high school stadiums but find it pretty odd how many of them are shared.  You have to lose some atmosphere being off campus and neutral logos on the field.

Is it pronounced Sam SurAh or SurEe?

Congratulations Johnnies on a great victory today.  Who knows but what this may be the year if we both keep wining that we might have another Linfield SJU playoff game.

Zim - I'm sorry you didn't see the humor that was obviously intended in the post saying "Bring on the Tommies." It was posted by someone who has a very good wit, and you should have been aware of it. Just to explain, Oz thought that the Johnnies were truly lucky to have won the game over UWEC, and played poorly in that game. There was obvious sarcasm because of that. I know it's hard to catch some of the inflection in print, but that one was intuitively obvious to the casual observer. You inferred seiousness. That's on you. See Post #66030 at the top of this page for more of that humor.

I also thought that ron doney's last post was classy and gracious, therefore, I gave him a "+". That's what I do, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Ret, Zim was just quoting a Tommie who didn't understand Oz's post, throwing it back in said Tommie's face. Rest assured, Zim is a full-blooded Johnnie and, in addition to his excellence as a bunter on the baseball diamond, is a very funny guy who certainly understood and appreciated Oz's humor. Blame his high school education for inability to properly use the quote function.

Are you sure?  I think there is some serious doubt about whether Zim graduated high school or not.

O Shag Hennesy...

You wouldn't be referring to this very funny skit, would you, Texas Ole?

That's what you get for tipping against Johnnie Magic (tm). I hope you learned your lesson.

Nice little tidbit to come out of Saturday's game. St. Thomas had won 27 in a row in the MIAC. Loss means the Johnnies still have the conference record of 28 in a row, set in 2001-2004.

"Wow, do you moisturize?"

might have to give this  +k for a week

Easy there. We wouldn't want any of our brethren from the corner of Cretin and Summit to feel like there is some sort of hostile "smokefest" environment on this board.

SUMMIT!!!!!

After the game, I had plans that kept me from home until 11 or so.  My phone isnt very smart (its barely above dumb), or I would have posted sooner (and no, I not under suicide watch).

The game was my worst fear- an overconfident UST team, getting outplayed and outcoached. STUPID penalties and way too many of them as well as 5 ugly turnovers (and a total botch job on SJU's first punt compounded by dumb play on the next punt). I still believe UST shoulda won handily, but SJU played mistake free ball, played smarter and made things happen, and THAT is how you win games not even your staunchest supports a(about 90% of the "smokefest crowd" on here) felt you had a chance at winning...it was an awesome atmopshere though, and a UST record crowd of 10,800.

A funny side note...only 11 were arrested for public intox/underage....including one guy (not sure if a tom or a john) who attempted to run from the cops and ran headfirst into a light pole! Guess he was DEFINITELY wasted. Could it have been TDT?
