Lone Auggie Backer, hopefully you know I was kidding about the Chaska pooper student enrolling at Auggie Tech. He is actually hoping to get into Bethel. Glad to hear things are going well in Germany. I had the experience of going to the Octoberfest in Munich in the early `90s with my siblings and really got snockered up and threw up on the bus back to the place we were staying in Austria. My siblings, who had never seen their oldest brother inebriated, enjoyed the experience very much. They still remind me of it to this day.

Duffman, I don't remember the corncob incident at RatHall when the Cobbers were visiting in the early `70s. I'm sure it did happen, though. Reminds me of the J term my sophomore year when I went to Augustana in beautiful Sioux Falls, SD. I was supposed to take class in jazz but at the last minute the school enrolled me in a class on world Lutheranism. As you might expect, I was the only Catholic in the class. I went to a basketball game between Augustana and South Dakota State, the home of the Jackrabbits. When the Jackrabbits were about to be introduced before the game, all these frozen jackrabbits were thrown out onto the basketball court. Something I will never forget.

As a University of South Dakota alumnus, I can recall a few dead coyotes being thrown on the floor as well by SDSU whenever they played against us.   As a matter of fact, between the two schools,  there was usually alot of road kill on the floor!!!!

Wow, I wonder how many more sponsors there will be this year?

Early rumors:
1.  I heard that instead of numbers, SJU FB players will now have the target logo on the sides of their helmet.
2.  Gags will now be referred to as Papa John's Gagliardi.
3.  Following each defensive Sack, a 8' Cashwise Paper bag will run from Endzone to Endzone.
4.  Speaking of Endzones, the South end zone will now read "Orville" and the North will read "Reddenbacher"
5.  The programs will weigh approx 27 lbs each and will feature 1 picture of a Johnnie football player and 2 full pages of football related information.
6.  The Rat Pak will be forced to climb into a giant Dcon box at half time and come out and lay belly up until play resumes for the second half

7.  The females students at the game will now be referred to as Benies and Jerries.
8.  All injured players will be taken off the field in a Cashwise shopping cart.
9.  The team will now be known as the SJU Tide with bleach
10.  The Menard's theme sing is now the SJU fight song.

The descent from the palaestra roof was one of the ballsiest stunts I have ever seen in person!

The closest to that was the Tommies Suck sign the following year held up by their fans!

Mr Shoes was involved in that one if I remember correctly!

You guys are taking me back to the wild game dinner I attended a few weeks ago where I got to eat raccoon for the first time in my life. Might have to add it to the Stiftungsfest menu, especially for our Gustie friends.

I guess that story gives credit to my dad's corncob story.  I think the descent off of the Palestra was one of the greatest things I ever saw at SJU.

Wooderson and I met "The Original Rat" at McDonald's in Tomah before the UWW/SJU game last year.  He's quite the guy.

Lewandowski moves to WBHR

Mark Lewandowski, play-by-play voice of Johnnies football and basketball on KKJM (92.9 FM) since 2000, will follow St. John's sports to WBHR (660 AM) next season. Lewandowski begins his new job at the station later this month.

The school signed a five-year broadcasting deal with WBHR in January. The station will carry St. John's football and home basketball and hockey games next season. Lewandowski said he is anticipating that St. John's Prep football coach Bryan Backes and former Johnnies quarterback Tom Linnemann also will be back for football games, though the broadcast team is not finalized. He also said he would like to launch a midweek coaches show.
