bennie,
What do you think of the crazy marriage between Gentleman Joe and St. Patrick?
St. Patrick is a nut! Keep him away from your glass wall or he will shove it down! :P

Second week in a row a Triple Take writer picks Bethel to be the most likely Top 25 Team to get upset. This week, it's two of them. Also interesting no one picked it as the game of the week  ??? Expecting a Cobber blowout ?!?
I suspect they just didn't want to mention Bethel in multiple categories.   In terms of the top 25 poll significance, you could pick a MIAC game as the game of the week, every week.  The WIAC has more depth as River Falls is better than Hamline/Carleton, but the MIAC's top 5 is better.

Keith also picked Augsburg over SJ1.

I might have to change my moniker at the Stiftungsfestivies tomorrow in Collegeville. Last week on Tuesday I had bail hearings. One of the persons in custody was there for a probation violation. As I called his case, he proceeded to call me "dude" about eight times. As we were walking back from the jail to the courthouse, court staff suggested that I should be called Judge Dude! ;D Then this past Tuesday I had a person appear in front of me who was late for criminal court. He called me dude three times. Now if I could only have a show like Judge Judy and make the millions she takes in every year. :o

There's more dudes in Scott County.  You'll notice a subtle accent change when crossing the river.

D3 football, and the MIAC, is getting some national attention again. This time for a game played in 1977.

I'm pretty sure the Liter Bowl, between St Olaf and Carleton, has been discussed on this board before. The article at the above link provides some details and also includes a link to a story from the Northfield News. Good think Olaf no longer uses meters or else their minimal rushing yards would look even smaller.

I hate to spoil a pretty humorous comment--in concept, but if the Oles used meters, their yardage would still be the same. Their "meterage" would be the smaller number. However, when the meager number is scoffed at they could say, "oh, but our offensive (double meaning) production is metric.  When converted to yards, it is actually _______ (pick a laudable number). Few would dare argue.   ;D

I heard a story that we held Carleton to 0 meters that game.  I know that per NCAA rules the stats had to be converted to yards upon request.

At -40 degrees isn't the yardage the same?

swamper?  is that lake envy?

No. Swamper would be reference to the terrain that lends itself to slough, as in:

noun
1. an area of soft, muddy ground; swamp or swamplike region.
2. a hole full of mire, as in a road.
3. Also, slew, slue.  Northern U.S. and Canadian.  a marshy or reedy pool, pond, inlet, backwater, or the like.
4. a condition of degradation, despair, or helplessness.

I don't get #4 but that's Dictionary.com for you. Something about mosquitoes would make more sense.

That doesn't explain why two picked Bethel to lose. Especially given they tend to try not to duplicate picks. They are expecting and predicting a BU loss. I get that, given the ending last year and the game being in Moorhead. But I still say Bethel prevails.

Nice one!  It took me a second to get it.  I had to go back to my days living in Iraq as a teacher.

As horrific as the Peterson story is, considering the entirety of human history and how people have treated each other since we appeared, I'd say the basket's as far away from hell as it's been in about 2.5 million years. These are the good ol' days we're living in.
