Not true. Last week Bethel had 498 points and NCC had 538. This week Bethel has 516 and NCC 537. They are essentially co-#4's.  ;D  ;) 8-)
Boom! That should break the deafening silence from St. Paul! :o
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Tommies drop to #15
Cobbers up to #22
Johnnies up to #23

With the help of SagatanSam, a perfect result:

Well, poll time.

BU stays 5.
UST drops to 15.
CON up to 20.
SJU up to 22.

Sam;

Numbers 9, 11, 19 and 21 all lost. I reckon we have a chance to move up two spots each for CON and SJU. I was getting a bit big for my britches.

That's why we make a great team, Oz.

I do have a bit of a bone to pick with the rankings. Why did they rank John Carroll #16? They're within 10 points of UST, they should be more like co-#15 because they are so close.  ;)
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

The silence from St Paul is deafening...

While you wait for the regulars maybe you can expound upon the big Johnnie win this weekend?  I haven't heard how great the defense was or how Ramler really shook it up again this weekend, putting up some big numbers.

You are a sad little fellow.  You are so trapped in your <fill in the blank> for SJU that you can't see the forest from the trees.  I don't think any of the SJU folks ever claimed this season was about putting the capstone on the chimney.  Rather, expectations have been very measured as the foundation is built out this season.  I can tell, this bothers and worries you, as it should.

Me, I took the points and Carelton.  I expected a win, but not the point spread AO offered.  Conference (coaching staff) dynamics have changed and that is, for me, the beauty in John's retirement.

This coming from the guy who's first comment on the weekend was to remind me that a UST loss is a loss.  You and the rest of the SJ1 faithful piled on the UST loss before ever making a comment about how the SJ1 game went. I thought that was sad, and was simply pointing it out to Stanbob and the like.

Excuse me.  Again you are so blinded.  My first comment was a response, not a comment, if that is lost on you, I am truly sorry for you.  A comment would have been some rhetoric about how UST is . . . . ., how the coach is blah, blah, blah, you get the point.  I only responded because you seem unable to accept the situation on the ground.  It is really quite simple and should not need explanation.

Please, save me the is sympathy comments.

Response/comments are semantics on a chat room board.  The point is you had a greater motivation to cut me down than you did to come on here and talk about games/players/etc.

I'm tired of hearing "quite in St. Paul." When at the same time the only noise from SJ1 is taking shots at other programs.

Saint Johns & cst both did what I expected yesterday...

You may want to check the in-game update board to see what many SJU fans had to say about the Johnnie performance yesterday, I for one felt no need to reiterate it again.  Must be tough for you to have jumped on the cst bandwagon when it was riding high and now have to watch it drop back to the pack...
Everyday is payday in paradise.

Retired Old Rat

I took in the Bethel/UST contest in Arden Hills yesterday.  Interesting and fun game to watch.  A few random comments.

I was wondering about the plaid shirt thing.  Thought maybe it was another new fad I'd missed.

I have not seen Bethel play for a few years.  I was surprised how the offense had swung so much from pounding the opposition into submission to an emphasis on passing.  Peterson did not look to run at all.

I learned that Jesse Phenow (34 for Bethel) is the son of one of my classmates at SJU, Rich Phenow.

Peterson throws a nice ball.  Two very nice receivers in Hallstrom and Hilbrands.

Those Anoka Tornadoes can play linebacker.

Fenske played well.  Didn't look like a freshman making his 1st start.

Had to rub my eyes to be sure my eyes were working when 34 lined up at nose tackle at the end of the 1st half.  I think it was for 3 plays, he had 2 quarterback hurries.

I'm glad the SJU/Bethel game will be at SJU.  That grass field at Bethel could be in really bad shape by 11/16.  Has Bethel ever considered putting in a turf field?

And, from where I was sitting, it was pass interference.

Correction: it should be revised to JCU 15, UST 16, since JCU is rising with a bullet, while UST is plunging like a stone. :o ;D

Hey, did anyone else hear the bizarre comment yesterday by the Carleton TV announcer as the game was almost over?

The announcer said something like he was so glad that the new St. Johns team wasn't trying to run-up the score like they would do in previous years, even if SJU had a big lead.  Sounded to me like he was taking a shot at Gagliardi.   ???

Don't know if the game is archived, but the comment occurred in the last minute of the game.

One more thing.  At this point anyway, Steve Johnson has to be a strong comtender for coach of the year.  Hoping Gary Fasching can change that.  :o

Now I think I'll follow the end of the BU/UST game.

How much more commentary do you want from a ho-hum game?

You know that AlmostEx is one of your own, right?

Different Board....
I can't speak for anyone else, but after spending 3+ hours on that "different board" with a number of the regular Johnnie posters from this board, celebrating the highs and lamenting the lows play by play as they happen, I don't feel the need to come over here and repete myself to pretty much the same audience. You clearly don't have a problem with that. Different boards, but all the same posters!

Like SJU was choosing not to run up the score! That's funny!

The week 6 link is missing, those stats are from week 5 to 7, but Bethel at some point has gained on NCC.  P.S.  Statistically speaking from one rank to another the spread would be 25, so at 21 points behind Bethel is a clear #5.  I make no judgement on whether or not they should be 4 or 5.
