I'll also accept "could've" which is, I would guess how the confusion started, since it is the contraction form of "could have", and sounds a lot like "could of". I understand, but let's preserve our language.

ALL posts count.  Including replies.

I could of sworn I replied to several posts but my post count didn't go up, maybe I was mistaken. We will see if my post count goes up to 17 after this reply.

....could have. could have. COULD HAVE!!!

When he gets to 100 posts, he can celebrate by taking care of this grievous error!  ;)

I expect one day to called Congressman ROR.  There, I said it.

Zip, TDT and Oz will be my co-campaign managers.    ;) :(

I'm thinking having TDT in there would be like having Billy Carter for a brother

Sounds like Caruso should move Gould to WR....

Caruso marveled at Gould's touchdown run.

"John's vision is impeccable," he said. "It reminds me of Fritz (Waldvogel, a wide receiver and returner on Caruso's first four St. Thomas teams). "One commonality as shorter athletes is they see between people, not over them, and they know how to take advantage of that."

Ferrazzo put it another way in assessing Gould's running: "He's got some moves!"

Actually Gould does have good football skills and should contribute at whatever position he plays.  He was a clutch HS QB with his running skills AND I dare say he will do well against more than just Hamline.

I don't know if it is a new rule this year or just being enforced this year.  I like the rule.  The players gotta learn to keep them strapped up.  When I played if your helmet came off in a game it was a good thing because it meant the doctor had easier time checking on you.  I just turned 31 so no leather helmet jokes.

I agree that players need to keep their helmets strapped, but making them sit out a play really doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Football is a violent game and helmets come off sometimes even if they are strapped on. I understand when a player is injured that they should sit out at least 1 play for safety reasons, but don't know why it would be a safety reason if your helmet comes off. If it is because they (league officials) want to make sure helmets are strapped on, then it would make more sense to asses a penalty if a player doesn't have his helmet strapped on. I don't know about college, but when I was playing high school football it was a 15 yard penalty if you didn't have your mouth piece in. They could do the same for unstrapped helmets rather than make them sit out a play. Just me 2 cents worth.

Coach can call a timeout to get the player back in the game without missing a play.

Yes, that is true, but why should it cost a team a timeout? I just don't see the need to make a player sit out a play (or cost the team a timeout) just because his helmet came off.

I am pretty sure this is a) a new rule at all levels of college football and b) rigorously enforced. The reasoning is simple and one I completely support.  With the ever cascading data on head injury in football, the one piece of equipment designed to protect the head is the helmet.  In order for a helmet to provide protection, it has to be properly fit.  If a helmet comes off during a play -- for argument (and safety) purposes, either the helmet was not properly fit, or in need of adjustment, thus sitting out a play for required equipment inspection/fit.  That is my understanding of the rule.

Chiming in...IMHO someone in the MIAC is fortunate not to have to play Pacific Lutheran University this season in the playoffs.

We're close to the end of the month so I don't know how many of you still have free articles to read over at the SCTimes.com. Frank Rajkowski has a column and interview with John Gagliardi. I believe this is the most we've heard from John since he announced his retirement. I found it to be a really enjoyable read and recommend checking it out.

Rajkowski column: Gagliardi's world quieter these days: http://www.sctimes.com/article/20131029/SPORTS/310290011/Rajkowski-column-Gagliardi-s-world-quieter-these-days

My main takeaway is John is really enjoying his retirement and the time for reflection and new opportunities it provides him. I think many wondered what would he do after 60+ years of coaching. I for one am happy that he's able to see his legacy in play while still in good health. St John's football and the University owe him a tremendous amount of gratitude.

"I've had the chance to look around during games this season and it's been kind of amazing to me," Gagliardi said. "I see crowds we never had when I first started. A stadium setup we never had back then. The turf field. All that stuff.

"It's nice to be able to think I had something to do with that. It makes me feel like I've left some kind of mark on this place."

Could a neutral 'referee' step in here with an observation  (without taking karma hits?) ::)

SJU posting previous awards.  Doesn't (essentially) every site do that?  What is the purpose of a college website if not to trumpet your achievements?   No arrogance.

UST posting the date of first round playoff games (and, for that matter, site and date of Stagg Bowl), perfectly normal and a service to fans.  No arrogance.

UST specifically listing the first round game as HOME.  Presumptuous (and arrogant?).

I wish I could grant karma, +k from me, but I am still trying to earn the right.

I am not sure if it is arrogance, and even if I did think so, who cares.  I am also not sure it is/was a mistake.  I am more inclined to believe it is part of what some people would call "brand management" and as such this brand will appeal to some and not others.  As noted in an earlier post, this will not be lost on other MIAC coaching staff, and thus at some future date there might be a brand management conversation with some man looking to make a college decision.  They will also discuss urban vs. rural, coed vs. single gender, etc. etc. etc.

It is all about brand, and that is why the new SJU coaching staff is so exciting.

I too am very nervous about this Gustie game.  SJU has pretty much had their way with the Gusties these for the past 25 years or more.  This is what worries me:

Oct. 12, 1996 Away W, 48-16
Oct. 11, 1997 Home L, 16-24
Nov. 13, 1998 Metrodome W, 36-13

Gustavus is going to be really pumped for this game.  Last 25 games, Johnnies are 25-1.  Quarterback with something to prove.  Best shot at beating the Johnnies in a long, long time.

I hope the Gustavus students are excited about this game and will make a good showing.  Always a better atmosphere when the seats have fannies in them.

All adds up to what should be an exciting game.  Weather outlook is low 40's, some sun, no rain.  Hopefully no/low wind.

Not a math major, but something here doesn't seem right. ;D

Not to bring back up the dying horse, but I've been too busy to throw this in there.

I'm told St. Thomas' web site doesn't give them the option to list neutral sites. (Yes, it's apparently a crappy publishing system. I know they are coming over to the good guys at PrestoSports at some point soon.)

A quick perusal of the baseball schedule, a sport which generally has a fair number of neutral games, shows that to be the case:
http://www.tommiesports.com/bsbl/schedule/

BTW, I noted another MIAC school has five playoff games on its schedule as well. Fact is, this is NOT unique.

I would say its trivial, but with the small population, I have the say that it is a material weakness.

I would have the max amount available.
