If any of you are ever in Dallas, check out Dealy Plaza as well as the 6th Floor Museum.  Things haven't changed a whole lot since that tragic day.  You can walk the grassy knoll, drive the same route, and peer out the window of what was the book depository.  I'm not a history buff, but I found it all very engaging.

A tradition unrivaled...

I'm sure many of us remember when we first heard about the assassination of President Kennedy. I was in elementary school that day and our teacher broke the news to us. I remember writing a letter of sympathy to Jacqueline Kennedy and getting a nice thank you card back from her.

Why not play the BU football game over at Hamline?  Everyone would be a winner.  The fans would have a nice cozy environment to create a good playoff atmosphere, the players would like the turf, and the Pipers would get to host a playoff football game.

Wouldn't be the worst thing to happen.

The only downside, which is sometimes an upside, is the fact that the sun never hits the bleachers at that stadium.  Was a blessing when watching a relative at the state track meet one year when it was relatively warm, but a curse a couple years back on a chilly November day for a BU football game.

It will be interesting to see how they handle the facility issue over the next couple of weeks, assuming BU is winning.

I believe that the school would have needed to submit an application in October,to the NCAA to host a play-off game.
I'm not sure if the HHH Dome is "pre-approved" or how they were able to switch the game there.....
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Interesting......assuming a win on Sat, dome isn't available, & conditions don't allow the game to be @ Bethel, do they become road warriors? ??? I would think there would be an exception for the host team to come up with an acceptable alternative.

There is no way the NCAA is going to make Bethel go on the road in the first 3 rounds.  Their field could be a frozen mud pit full of polar bears.

Maybe they could bump St. Croix Lutheran and New London-Spicer.

Linfield hosted Wartburg in 2003 at Willamette (the year before Linfield had turf).  Why couldn't Bethel host at UST?  The Tommies don't have anything to do beside tell each other how much they love Glen.

R.I.P Maurice "Mad Dog" Vachon- professional wrestling icon.

Truly a legend.  He and Dick the Bruiser would be at the top of my list.  I used to love when Mad Dog was interviewed how he would sort of foam at the mouth and spit and all that.   :)
I sent a message to two childhood buddies & they had similar stories/memories of the old days of the AWA  :)

don't forget about "the baron"

I live in Dallas and actually took the day off hoping to go down there.  It has been about 35* and raining all day.  I wanted to take my camera and they were not allowing bags which is not good for it.  Unfortunately I decided not to go.  I've been following this assassination since in the 3rd grade I had a teacher really invite us to explore this event.  This week I have spent hours awake listening to various stories about it.  It's been really interesting, but it has also freaked me out a few times.  As a Dallas resident I always tell people that the area is a must to visit.  I don't care about your political leanings or any other opinions.  It is about respecting a man that was the President of the United States.  It is about learning something.  The 6th Floor Museum is great, and the area keeps getting better for people wanting to learn about this dark day in history.  One of the things to remember when looking through the window is that the trees were small.  It was a relatively easy shot from that window.  I don't think you fully understand everything until you see it.  I think every student at some point should have to interview a family member about their family history and some historical events.  I will be in the area tomorrow so I may try to take some pictures.  I was able to watch the program on television today.  It was excellent, and Mayor Rawlings I thought did a great job.  It was quite inspiring.  If anyone needs a link let me know.  If anyone is ever in Dallas and wants a tour of the area I am happy do it if available free of charge.  Thank you to those who took the time to remember.  As a Dallas resident I view it partially as a funeral we have never been able to do.  Hopefully we can move forward even more from this day.

Well, the pundits at D3 Football have picked North Central to win the bracket to face Mount Union. This is not a surprise as they have been ranked higher than Bethel the whole year, but by never more than two places, most of the year right next to one another. I really think that if the game happens it will be a doozy. I think NC has a tougher road than Bethel because Platteville is going to hammer on them like no one else has all year.

I can't wait for Saturday!

Go Royals!

Good luck to the Royals today!  :)
