Whatever happens with Caruso, this speculation can't be good for recruiting over at UST. At least in the short term.

I think most of the speculation is being fueled by outsiders.  If it is made public that Glenn has applied, as North Dakota law allegedly requires, I believe it could impact recruiting and the U$T program a wee bit in the short term.  If Glenn is absolutely not interested he should probably get some kind of confirmation out on the Old Neighbor airwaves (aka 'CCO and the U$T spin machine  ;)) that he has no plans to leave the purple pasture.

Then why would they call it "sprint" football if fat guys can play? :D

They have to be really, really fast 'fat' guys! ;D

(Not sure why they would set a minimum, unless it is a health concern for that player.)

That's my take on it too. Let's see - if a player cannot weigh more than 175 and have a minimum of 5% body fat I'm going to guess that the best running backs are only about 5"6" tall to get their muscle mass index down to a comparable 6' tall RB that goes 225 or there abouts. I know a power lifter about that size and if he were a running back with any amount of speed, he would be a tough tackle - even for us big guys.  ;D

How has Steve Johnson's name not come up on any of these lists?

Johnson took a program that finished in the bottom 3 in the MIAC every single year prior to his becoming head coach and has only had one losing season since then.
He has a .783 win percentage over the last ten years.

Perhaps the Bethel guys can help me out with this one.

Purely as an outsider speculating, I suspect Coach Johnson retires from Bethel. He's only a couple of years older than me and I know I wouldn't want to do a "new gig" at my stage in life. If I was forced to, that's another story. I do not see any forced removal of Coach Johnson anytime soon in the future, especially knowing what he has done for Bethel University in his tenure there so far. Is he looking for greener pastures? I've no idea - but I'd guess not.

I'm guessing it's so you don't have guys 'cutting' to get down to 172 who in reality are decent deal bigger.  :-\

Hey, I'm under 60.

On a related note, I keep hearing it said the WCCO really wants Gopher football back and are willing to do just about anything to do so.  I think the contract is up, so could be Dave Lee and Eric Nelson called their last game at Cretin and Summit.  Do they move to KSTP?

The best worst punt you'll ever see.  Would have likely given up a touchdown if the punter wasn't so skilled at adding a little extra backspin.

St. Glenn is a coach that I love to hate. If he goes to UND, NDSU, Princeton, Central Connecticut State, Morgan State, James Madison, Weber State, or Eastern Michigan (all of whom have head coach job postings on the NCAA Market at NCAA.org), it will take some spice out of the best rivalry in Division III sports.

Maybe this is just me feeling my oats concerning the direction of the SJU football program, but I won't be one looking to find him a new job this off-season.
Beating up on UST during my time at SJU (2003-2007) was fun to watch--only one game was even close (15-12 at O'Shaughnessy for Gagliardi's 408th career victory in 2003), but there wasn't much spice.

Only because I've become a follower of the Ivies while living in NYC and was surprised to see Princeton listed because they have had a tremendous turnaround and their coach is regarded as one of the best in the league, their real football team doesn't actually have an opening. If Caruso leaves for Princeton it would be to take over as the "sprint football head coach" at the school.

Although I can now amuse myself with the idea of Caruso leaving for the position and finding out too late it's for the sprint team.

Sorry, what is a sprint football team?

Of course anything with even a vague reference to track and field grabs your attention.

I was playing well below sprint weight back in my college "playing" days. What could have been had I known.

What caught my eye most was the emptiness of the stands  :o
This is supposed to be a "Bowl Game" which to me = "Big Deal"---> OUCH!
We here in the MIAC are lucky to have a decent league with pretty quality football and fans that actually come out & watch/cheer for their squad.
Go ahead folks give yourselves a pat on the back for coming out to support your squad!
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!
