Duff, would this be one of Mrs. Duff's brothers or the youngin' who spent his formative years in Stockholm Township next to my parent's farm?

On my favorite wife's side.  From the streets of Belgrade, MN.  ;)

A tradition unrivaled...

How on the hell do you drink Hams buddy?  The Jack is a mainstay but, Hams ??? I do like the old commercials.  I should know this but's what's with this Karma thing that was posted earlier and when are you able to use it...some one told me once, but it escapes me! How is recruiting going for the MIAC?

I have been away from the board for a while ;D

Oh Chi-Tom, how I have missed thee! I do enjoy Hams(sic) as you say, along with a delicious Hamm's sandwich.

Sing it with me:

From the Land of Sky Blue Waters,
From the land of pines, lofty balsams,
Comes the beer refreshing,
Hamm's the beer refreshing.

Brewed where nature works her wonders,
Aged for many moons, gently mellowed,
Hamm's the beer refreshing,
Hamm's the beer refreshing.

From across the rippling water,
Through the whispering pines and birches,
Comes the beer refreshing,
Hamm's the beer refreshing.

Comes a call to cool enchantment,
Comes a call to cool refreshment,
Hamm's the beer refreshing,
Hamm's the beer refreshing.

Hints of lakes and sunset breezes,
Dance and sparkle in each glassful,
Hamm's the beer refreshing,
Hamm's the beer refreshing.

Never drank hams in my life, would imagine it would be tough to get down your gullet, (but to each their own, even in chicago) but Hamm's, now that is something else altogether, elixir of the Gods...
Everyday is payday in paradise.

This coming from a guy in Chicago, where Dog Style was the number one selling brand for many years.

Beer Banter....good stuff  ;D

A couple of weeks back Mrs. 105 & I were out for a bite to eat Saturday night after Mass. We went to one of the little taverns around one of our area lakes for reasonably priced food & even more reasonably price beverages. A group of guys  (late 20's- early 30's)came in after an afternoon of ice fishing and poured a couple pitchers of Grain Belt Nordeast. A couple of them went to Mankato State and were reminiscing of surviving on the "economy" label in the Schell's Family of beers Hauenstein during their college years. I drank plenty of Old Style and Hauenstein when I was younger. ROR, I'lm guessing you know why. That's right...because the old man drank it and it was easy to steal out of the basement refrig   ;)

A lot of Hamms, Schmidt and Blatz.  My dad kept the beer refrigerator well stocked.  My favorite was the Hamms mini tapper.  He couldn't tell by keeping track of bottles if we had been sampling.  He did comment once or twice that he didn't think he'd poured enough for himself that it should be empty already.

The good old days.

The only thing missing in this Hamm's MIACPP discussion is our Mayor finsleft.

Good stuff fellas! All this Hamm's talk was enough to stir me from my winter slumber. Even down here in Cabo I can hear (sense?) talk from the tundra of the golden nectar...much like, I suppose, how a fat robin knows where the worm is, or when a farmer knows it will rain. Alas, no Hamm's here, so I'm about to choke down my last Pacifico. As I was packing for my flight home tomorrow, I was coming up empty while trying to come up with one good reason to leave here for there. Thanks to you guys, I now have one.
Salud!
Love,
Your Mayor,

Something about the North Star state that binds us all.

Well, I survived another EelPout Festival in Walker this past weekend. :D Unfortunately, I did not find the Bikini Ice Fishing Team this year. :'( I did have the experience of tasting a bear brat for the first time in my life.

True, dat!  This is my 44th winter in Michigan.  I've lived through colder winters and snowier winters (though we are rapidly approaching the record), but never one with such a combination of snow and cold.  So far in 2014 we had had more days below -10 than above 32! :(

And I'm sure your winter has been even colder than ours.  After all, we are in what a one-time Detroit Free Press columnist used to call 'the banana belt' of Michigan! ;)
