Well, my son got an invite to the Mount Union football camp! Hello SJU?

Triple post, but I have to say that's a shame. A good jterm project for some computer science majors would be to build the atheletic dept a prospect management system. Make it all social networkie and troll Facebook/google+/YouTube to discover prospects for the school.

There are plenty of good prospect management systems out there. No need to reinvent the wheel there -- just reimagine how you use them.

I don't know if I mentioned it here, but tickets are booked to return home this fall and visit the folks. I was hoping for a good game at Clemens but the only timing that worked was Family Day against Hamline. Hopefully, the weather is nice and the Stiftungfestivities are hopping. I'll have to see if I can smuggle some witchetty grubs into the country.

And carefully timed for the week after the Grand Final, if I'm reading the schedules correctly.    :)

Shhh.  I don't think my mom has figured that out yet.

I agree with Pat-my son is on the NCSA web site.
He has camps at Northwestern (Evanston); Lake Forest (with Iowa); NDSU; Notre Dame and Bemidji State-very busy June!

These are all invitation only type camps?
Sounds like he has a bright future. Good for him. Promise only to share the secret recipe Chicago Polish sausage with your SJU buddies at the Stiftungfestivities...  8-)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

105-not invitation only-however all but Notre Dame and Northwestern-sent emails inviting him. He also had invitations from about 10 other schools, but their camps just didn't work out.
I guess the point I am making with the Mount Union post is no wonder they are always successful-emailing HS players and inviting them to camps-they get to see so many more players. As I said before, my son gets almost weekly letters from St. Olaf-gotta commend them on their effort-if I was not an SJU grad-I am sure he would have checked them out. So, I think SJU should be looking at the recruiting web sites snd sending out emails, which cost nothing.

Some HR advice that I would take well to heed.  F*** 'em.  What's the worst that can happen?

We drove down to a farm outside Geelong today to pick a replacement for our last dog which died about 18 months ago.  #3 is holding the two-week old runt of the litter.  Hopefully, she grows to be a smallish medium sized dog.  At least that's what I promised the boss...

Have fun with that!  ;)
Our dog is on his last leg.  It's been really hard on the wife and I, and with two young uns, we're going to go dogless for a while.

Amazing how the critters take a hold of your heart.  We put the family dog, which we got during my HS days, down about 2 years ago.  Tough to watch the old boy decline...and that last trip to the vet is a gut check.

Been there and done that.  Agree completely.  I still miss the lab we had to put down several years ago and every once and awhile I catch myself calling her name when I'm meaning to call the current lab.

worst part of dog ownership. Our 125lbs golden mix is over 8. At his size I'm hoping a few more years, but you know it's coming. There isn't much that makes me tear up, but putting down a family dog does it every time.

Worst movie ever made: Old Yeller. My kids love watching it with me because I break down every time when Travis has to shoot his own dog.

ThinkIng of dog movies, I found this full movie of Red Dog on YouTube.  Red Dog is the best Australian movie I've ever seen.  I think it's well worth a watch and will bring a tear to the eye of any dog lover. Best of all, it's based on a true story.

Well, good news for JJR! No opponent this year for my judicial position. Thank goodness I will be able to focus my time on the Stiftungsfestivities this fall instead of going door knocking in seven counties. ;D
