That 2002 game in EC sucked!   :(

2002 was my second year at SJU. What I remember after that UW-EC game was having flashbacks to 2001 when we started 0-2 after losses to UW-EC and St. Olaf and wondering if the same start was possible. I looked back at the box score of the 2001 game vs UW-EC and Blake did not play that game. I didn't remember that. Duff, or anyone else, do you remember why he didn't - was it an injury? He did play the next week against St Olaf.

Checking in with camp starting.
Will be busy Fall with my son in his senior year of HS football. Hope to go on some official visits to some D2 schools. Also have season tickets to fighting Irish, but doesn't look to conflict too much with SJU games. I will wait for the playoffs to get in my SJU game this year.  :)

Since it's about that time that everyone reports to camp I feel it's important to let everyone know that I'm still alive and living in Fargo, which means I am now a HUGE Concordia Cobber fan. Hope to see everyone at "The Jake" on September 13 to see our boys put a whoopin' on Buena Vista.

I also am now like every other mouth-breather in Fargo who can't shut up about the Bizzzzzzon. "DERRRR, bring on Florida St. DERRRRRR, bring on 'Bama."

Moving south, 'eh bench?  Next stop - Sioux Falls!

I think that was the softball injury. Hamstring maybe. I'm sure a member of your family and board member was quite upset at Elliott for participating in non-football activities.

Well, our Auggie finished up his internship with us yesterday so that he could head back for the start of football camp this weekend.  I will say that I was impressed with him; he certainly didn't fit the Auggie Tech stereotype.  :o And I did avoid getting any beer bottles thrown at me, although he did threaten to burn any Johnnie propaganda that I brought for him.

It's hard to believe that summer is winding down already and that football season is nearly here!

Whatever the reason, I was one spot higher up on the depth chart. Could I have been the difference maker that game? We'll never know.

I didn't remember that, either, nor do I recall why he didn't play.  I do remember that game being utter chaos as we looked to replace nearly all the starters from the talented 2000 team.

A tradition unrivaled...

Johnnie Red

Good news! I found a meat market in St. Bonifacius for the Stiftungsfest hamburger for the tailgate parties this fall at the Johnnie football games. One of the employees used to own the meat market in Norwood Young America where I always got the burger and which closed this past June.

The Stiftungsfest celebration will be on August 22 - 24 in Norwood Young America. It is the oldest community celebration in the state. Always a great time and plenty of the Stiftungsfest burgers.

An expansion office in Fargo or did you leave the firm & hang out your own shingle?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

OK...the black jerseys worn by the Johnnies QB's creep me out...they remind me of our junior high football jerseys back in Henderson during the 80's.

And the last time your team won 3 consecutive national titles, plus having a 6-2 record against division-up opponents was.....?

I'd say they've had good reason to be excited about the program.

I talked to Blake's dad before that game.  My recollection is that he told me is was a minor leg thing and he'd be playing the next week.

The start time of the Johnnies first road game was push backed. Haven't they typically played night games when they've traveled to UW-EC?

I believe all the games at Eau Claire, with the possible exception of the playoff game (don't remember where that was played) since the current series began.  Personally, I like the night games.  Keeps me free during the day and it's a unique experience playing under the lights.  The awesome Blue Gold band also seems better under the lights.

And yes, that 2002 game sucked.  I'm not like most of you guys with your photographic memories on plays that happened 20-40 years.  I remember that one pretty well.  Caused me to loose a bet with an EC grad after I'd been trash talking to him all week.
