Fasching demeans himself by engaging with these a**clowns as if they are legitimate critics.
It's about half a step in front of these guys: http://youtu.be/slHyYiaRC0k

Oz, it was so nice of you to share a typical day with the students and faculty at the University of St. Thomas. The Cretin-Summit neighborhood has some interesting folks and they just love their footy.......
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Perhaps this is a more accurate representation of a day at UST...

Interesting definition of "several" by Larry, let's go to the box score:

Cmp - Att - Int    Yds    TD    Long    Sack
Nick Martin    6 - 8 - 0          121    3    49        0

And how awful was that touchdown pass to Harrington in the first half on Saturday.
Larry's dumber than the Cable Guy.

Going to Tommies game this weekend, love going hate the drive!
I bet the drive home really sucks after another loss to the Johnnies..... ;)

Yep! It did suck, I am a bit concerned with how Augsburg's passing game will match up to the Tommies D this weekend.  We should be fine if we stick to the ground game eat the clock and keep their offense off the field.  Just my opinion...

From that clip, the teleseries looks awful.  So bad that I maybe want to watch it.  I never read the book but Wikipedia says it has some famous comic scenes...

Ok.  If the Johnnies take the MIAC I'll suffer through that book.  Talk about conflicted emotions.

EDIT: And I followed through on Wikipedia to the list of the 100 best novels of the 20th century.  The editors top 10 is filled with a variety of the usual suspects, half of which I read for high school assignments.  The self-selected 200,000 readers list though?  Four Ayn Rand books and three L Ron Hubbard.  Internet crazies and Scientologists taking over the voting...

It is interesting that 1984 is on the readers' list while Brave New World is on the editors' list, though.  Not trying to start an Oprah Book Club here, but I found Brave New World far creepier.  1984 had totalitarian evil in your face and undeniable - easy to relate to.  Brave New world had a totalitarian smiley face that I reckon is much easier for people to accept, even ask for.

Re-Ranking the Conferences

Cutting to the chase (with conferences that have winning percentages):

2. MIAC               12 – 5      71%
3. Empire 8         14 – 2      88%
4. OAC                 7 – 3      70%
5. ASC               16 – 11           59%
8. IIAC               15 – 9      63%
9. LL         14 – 8      64%
10. CC         7 – 3      70%
11. ODAC      17 – 8      68%
22. MSCAC      11 – 7      61%

So the MIAC moves back into second place behind the WIAC. Bethel is the last team in the MIAC with a non-conference game against Chicago on the 18th of October - not sure if any of the other conferences have any more non-conference games. Even if BU wins, the MIAC really wouldn't move up any more with the slightly better winning percentage.

Actually, the 1981 Brideshead mini-series is rather well done.  It's true to the novel and Jeremy Irons puts in a wonderful performance, though to be fair it does seem a bit dated. The 2008 Brideshead movie, on the other hand, is all over the place and the acting feels contrived. Incidentally, I've lived/researched/studied in Cambridge, Oxford, and London. Daily life in these universities feels nothing like Brideshead would lead you to believe, at least in the contemporary world. And now, lest anyone think my understanding of university culture is limited in scope, this gem of British television (Little Britain) struck me as reminiscent of the SJU/CSB alumni club.

Debate: If the 32 team field included the best 32 teams, would the Top 5 (Gusties, Johnnies, Royalies, Cobbies, Tommies) all make the field?

I think they would.

Too soon to tell. We'll have to see at the end of the season if Gustavus is that good. If they lose to all of the other four, I wouldn't put them in under that scenario.

Shouldn't it matter how they lose?  What other team in the country has ever played their final 4 games against top 25 teams?

P.S.  I forgot to post this from the weekend, but I was back on the Northwestern campus and was reminded why you can't trust Bethel kids.

At least they didn't put bubble bath in the fountain again.

The trade/free agency period has been very good to Hawthorn again this year. We picked up the top free agent on the market, a 26-year-old All-Australian defender, for less money and fewer years than offered by Geelong (everyone wants to play at a winner!). We also traded this year's 19th pick for the 2012 #2, a 20-year-old outside midfielder who played only 8 games this year due to a broken jaw.

So it looks like we're reloading the cannon just right and plugging an impending backline gap (2013 Norm Smurh medallist Brian Lake is 31 and playing his last year in the big leagues next year).  I'm hoping for the three-peat next year. It's only been accomplished three times before in 150 years of football.
