what's crackin MIAC?

The "why salem" convo has bounced around from this board to it's own thread but an interesting idea would be to have the I-AA, II, and III champ game at the same venue in some fantabulous location. I like that idea. You'd draw in the 6 participating teams fans, local fans who want to see some football, national media, and football fans that want to make a trip out of the whole thing.... They could sell indiv tickets or a discounted 3 game package.

TDT... Naples?

Knightstalker

Knightstalker would like to inform the MIAC PP that while performing the TDT -K function that is part of the LLPP MIACPP working agreement that KS placed TDT at -300.

Gro- I think that's a great idea. But at the very least, the Stagg's gotta go somewhere that has something else to offer. If it was "someplace nice" I might even be tempted to go watch even on those rare years when the Johnnies aren't in the game.
A little golf in the morning, stop at the beach for a swim, then roll into the parking lot for the Staggstiftungsfestivities and some Hamm's....sounds like a great day, doesn't it?

fins - I just posted on the General Football some of the Left Coast possibilities.  You'd like San Diego.

Looks good tmerton. I have some connections to USD and have been there a bunch. That would be sweet. A little Friday side trip to Ensanada and/or Tijuana? Beats the hell out of Friday night at the Salem Motel bar.

Little MORE bad news- speaking of landmarks closing: The LaPlayette will be sold soon.  It will most likely be closed this summer and knocked down this fall to make room for a strip mall/apartment type complex.  Any potential buyers should speak up soon!!  I know a good bartender who would help out on weekends...  ;D

What can you tell me about Minnesota high school football, how it's organized, etc.?  Do they have different divisions for rankings and playoffs?  What are some good sources for information?

Weather is looking pretty good for the weekend.

Six different classes: 9-man, 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A, with 5A being the big schools.  Each class is broken up into sections, and you have to advance past your section to make the state play-offs (most everyone qualifies for section play-offs).  Once you make state, there is the quarterfinals (I forget how they decide where these are played) then the semis and the finals are at the Metrodome.  All the finals are played on one day, starting at 8:00 am for 9-man, then playing right up the list.  The 5A game usually gets really late.  Check out www.mshsl.org for more info.

Here is a good site for info.  Some say there are too many classes for football-6 classes (5 plus 9-man)makes it too much of a "feel good/everybody wins" attitude.  As a coach, however, it gives you a better shot at getting to state!

Touchdown Tommy

Johnnie Red,

Can we get a report on how your son enjoyed the Miami Dade County area last week?  Inquiring minds want to know if he had enough space on the digital camera for all those "thong bikinis"  :o

Once you make state, there is the quarterfinals (I forget how they decide where these are played)

FYI, Most sections have predetermined sites selected, for example, section finals in the west central and northwest part of the state are played in the FargoDome or the Alerus center in Grand Forks over a two day period. I believe the High School league has made a ruling that all quarterfinal games must be played outside! Makes for some chilly nights.
