Johnnie Red,

Can we get a report on how your son enjoyed the Miami Dade County area last week?  Inquiring minds want to know if he had enough space on the digital camera for all those "thong bikinis"  :o

JR, Just for clarificationon that question, remember that the thong bikinis you and I are envisioning (women) are different than those that TDT is picturing in his mind...

Apparently that didn't go over well!   ;D

You talking to me?

I meant the karma hit I took after that post.

I figured as much - but I couldn't resist the opportunity to post the Robert DeNiro link.  8)

Once you make state, there is the quarterfinals (I forget how they decide where these are played)

FYI, Most sections have predetermined sites selected, for example, section finals in the west central and northwest part of the state are played in the FargoDome or the Alerus center in Grand Forks over a two day period. I believe the High School league has made a ruling that all quarterfinal games must be played outside! Makes for some chilly nights.

Back when I played, the section we were in (Sartell, Albany, Melrose, Paynesville...) played all section games at the high seed.  I know that the section that Sartell is in now plays the section final at the Fargodome, but I didn't know that was the case for "most sections."  I guess we were just tougher back then ;D

Happy 1900 posts to me!

Unlike those Sartell cakeeaters  ;D- some of us are still in that section and still play outdoors at the high seed!    And it's a helluva lot colder prowling the sidelines than it was out playing.

Duff, Congratulations on 1900. Sartell is in 8AAAA, same as Detroit Lakes. Over the course of two days, I know they play at least 12 Section finals in the Alerus Center and Fargo Dome.

I just question the logic behind a team like Sartell playing in Fargo.  That's a long haul, especially if they'd play a team like ROCORI.  They could make the 20 minute trek, but both teams have to bus all the way to Fargo.

Duff, I agree with your logic. It's like Fergus and Willmar traveling to Halenbeck a coupleof years ago to play the Section Final BB game. The facilities are booked at least a year ahead of time I believe.

The High school league/coaches association has decided that starting the fall of '07, all quarterfinal state games will be held at a neutral site with an artificial turf surface.

I've just been informed by Florida's Finest (Gayest?) that I "needed" to post something.

As said source approached the Twins spring training facilities more than 3 hours before the first pitch - no doubt to ogle the beer men extra long tonight - he noticed a disturbing sight: Bethel University had a banner flying beneath a fairly large pregame party. I was quickly informed that no music was in play, no beers were in hand and no Stiffy burgers were on the grill. In short, it was a sight that would have made The Godfather cringe.

On the plus side, they had "a few babes" in attendance. I think we all know TDT's standard of babes is a little...off though. Where's KR to post TDT flavor of the day when you need him?
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

what's crackin MIAC?

The "why salem" convo has bounced around from this board to it's own thread but an interesting idea would be to have the I-AA, II, and III champ game at the same venue in some fantabulous location. I like that idea. You'd draw in the 6 participating teams fans, local fans who want to see some football, national media, and football fans that want to make a trip out of the whole thing.... They could sell indiv tickets or a discounted 3 game package.

TDT... Naples?

Gro, that is a great idea.  I'd be tempted to take it in even when my team is not playing in the game.

I vote San Diego.

Back when I was in high school, we were still in the AA, A, B, C, and 9-man days.  Northfield was Class A.  All of our section games were played at the higher seed's home field.  Then, in the state playoffs, the first round was pre-determined based on the winner of the section (for example, the winner of section 1 will play at the winner of section 7 which would be just the opposite the following year.  There would be an 16 year rotation - 8 sections - which would give each section the opportunity to have a home game every other year)  My sophomore year our first round of state playoffs was in International Falls - Sumander, you want to talk about a chilly night!  Holy schneikey's it was freezing up there.  I'm talking the first week of November (back when winters used to be cold in Minnesota) in the Ice Box of the USA.  It was one great night of football.  By the way, we won 14-13 in OT because I.F. was never known for their kicking game, and we had an all state kicker that gave us the extra point to seal it.

I agree with all, though, that it makes no sense to have so many teams travel all over, when one of the best parts about HS football are the townsfolk getting behind the local team and then showing up en masse for the home tilt on friday night.  But, I guess everything these days is all about ticket sales and revenue.  Too bad.

By the way, German's don't understand American Football.  I've quit trying to explain it.

Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

Little MORE bad news- speaking of landmarks closing: The LaPlayette will be sold soon.  It will most likely be closed this summer and knocked down this fall to make room for a strip mall/apartment type complex.  Any potential buyers should speak up soon!!  I know a good bartender who would help out on weekends...  ;D

Please, say it isn't so.  The La is an institution.  I'm not sure I could drive through
St. Joe knowing the La was gone.

LAB, I have officiated H.S. FB for quite a few of years. I have been up in Warroad and Roseau for some of those late season games!! That's where my definition of cold comes from. We were in Warroad one night for a game when it was snowing sideways! Not fun.

WW--TDT asked if you call me at odd hours of the night.  I laughed, said no and that I thought it was hilarious that you harrass him.  Also, Anders is in Vegas this week.  We're heading out on the town tomorrow night, so expect to see us being arrested on CNN.
I'd post a lot more if I had a real job

Unfortunately, it IS so...  not a surprise though- I speak from experience when I say that Ace wasn't exactly a savvy businessman...
