Here's something to add to the list of notable stories:

Macalester is one win away from a Midwest Conference championship and an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs.

I understand that this is a story best suited for another board, but it is interesting to think about the team that was the doormat of the MIAC for decades is now poised to have a playoff berth.

Imagine if Glenn had stayed at MAC...playoffs baby!!!
Glenn is still most likely responsible for the MAC resurgence though, he laid the groundwork.  And best for him, he might have the time to go watch them in the playoffs.

I'd love to see a Mac/SJU play-off game!  :-*

It would be great to remind MAC why they left the MIAC.

Surprisingly, there is none.  Open to suggestions and I'll add it to the official list.

Not to mention that the playoffs come during deer season (or at least it is deer season in Michigan).

While there is still some deer hunting going on, the big, firearm deer season in MN opened on 11/8, and a great majority of hunters are done by playoff time in MN.

Well, let's not count them post season eggs before they hatch. If we drop against STO the who is in?  CON or UST?

If you lose to Olaf, I'm voting to kick you guys over the MWC with Mac  :P ;)

How big a difference do you think Mathis would have made against SJU?  I'm a little surprised none of you Bethel guys mentioned that.

I think Mathis (17 tkls last year) and Van Doozer (NT) were big losses for Bethel. You don't want to lose two of your best players, right in the middle of your D, against a good running team. I think it made a difference (in fact, I'm sure it did).

That said, I actually thought the D played pretty well given we turned it over 5 times.

And that, 5 TO's is the reason it wouldn't have mattered enough. The early goal-line stand (not a fan of the outside run call on 4th and goal) set the momentum. Attacking a gimpy Treimer down the sideline for the big completion was a great play call.

That said, those 5 TO's (and an uncharacteristically rough game for Peterson) is why I'd have hope in a rematch. That wasn't our best football. Not even close. But don't hear me saying that diminishes the game SJU played.

The Johnnies came out with some fire in their bellies, made big plays all game and took the bull by the horns.

It would be wonderful to see. To be honest, it would be a great piece of justice. Force Mac to play a MIAC team in the first round of the playoffs. You can run, but you can't hide boys  ;D ;)

I didn't catch the game, but I looked over the stats (I know which can be misleading). Just looking at the numbers I thought Bethel did a great job against the run. Yes Sura had 119 yards, but it took him 40 carries to get there....that's under 3 yards a carry! With SJU's longest run only being 6 yards. Not sure what else you can ask from the run defense.
