Touchdown Tommy

Forgot to mention:  SJUrube, John Millea of the MSHSL, was on 1500ESPN yesterday with Reusse.  He was giving your brother props for supplying the assorted meat products from the Nicollet meat markets to the press box.  Podcast it if you didn't catch it live (around 4:40pm I believe).

Doug:  you can't sniff my karma!!!  Headed to Osseo tonight to see TG play Lakeville.  Join us at Dicks at 5pm.

ROR:  your commentary is noted.

I know VOJ doesn't post much, but TDT did talk him into getting a Twitter acct at the La Playette.

Playoffs baby.  Pack a lunch.  Hope your sofa is warm Glenn.
Max, I won't be sniffing ANYTHING of yours!!!!!!!  I'm on the couch tonight, so no TG vs Lakeville for me tonight.  Nursing a cold and hashing and rehashing potential 1st round playoff match ups....
The last shall be first and the  shall be... FIRST AGAIN!!!

TDT, I was going to take you to DefCon -3200 but someone beat me to it. Seems the only one close to you on that side of the ledger is PC.

I wonder if Chicago Tommie is still betting on the Bears?  ???

SJUrube

Per Frank and his blog on the SCTimes...

"The big notes from practice Thursday:
* Senior wide receiver Rob Voshell - who has been out since fracturing his left forearm in a week two win at Wisconsin-Eau Claire - has been cleared to return to practice and was back on the field Thursday. Head coach Gary Fasching said he is not sure if Voshell will suit up Saturday."

Not a bad addition the WRs if he's able to play a week from now & beyond. He's a skilled guy w/ good size.

Appreciate the alert. I usually give Reusse a podcast listen but hadn't heard this. My bro was excited to have John down for the game. Being a small town Iowa guy Millea told me he felt at home. A bundle of beef sticks probably didn't hurt. I only wish I was headed to a state semifinal game tomorrow but unfortunately the Raiders suffered defeat on Saturday.

BTW...Reusse is great. I still have him behind Common Man & Barerrio on my local radio preferences but love his wide ranging & reaching memory of the MN sports landscape. He can talk about anything from the early days of the Twins to local small college & HS history. He keeps hinting that his final media day will be the 2016 Ryder Cup. I hope that isn't true.

The only thing the Auggies will be doing to the monkey tomorrow is spanking it.

Pat,

Wondering why you guys are surprised that UWP is ahead of Bethel in the regional rankings, when you also have them ahead of Bethel in the top 25 poll?

Just wondering...

Top 25 is the opinion of the voters. Those voters can use any rationale they choose to rank their teams. SOS, RRO, etc. matter not a wit.

The Regional Rankings are supposed to follow the published primary and secondary criteria. W-L, H2H, Results against common opponents, RRO, SOS, etc. are supposed to matter.

This is why the UWP and Bethel slotting is so surprising.

Pat, jump in if I'm missing something or mis-stating the matter.

Oh!  And I forgot to give hazzben crap for this.  I get all that, I was giving Pat crap for the irony that they are complaining  Bethel is being dissed by the region voters, yet his own poll voters are doing the same thing.  ;)

From the SC Times:

Quote"Gary (Fasching) is a great coach and you have to give him a lot of credit," said St. Olaf coach Craig Stern who, like Fasching, is a former assistant at his school who was hired for the head coaching job prior to last season.

"We're at two different institutions. It's like comparing apples and cows really. So we have two different situations. But Gary has done a great job of taking what John (Gagliardi) built there and tightening up some areas the program may have gotten a little lax on. That's normal when a team has been as successful as they have for so long. You can start to get a little comfortable. But Gary has come in and tweaked a few things. And now look at where they are again."

I don't know exactly why, but that quote just strikes me as a bit odd.  ???
