I'm probably the only one on this board old enough to have heard the SJU/Shagnasty stories  ;D

Let's not forget the 1 could also symbolize SJU's place atop the D3 golf world a few years, a fact that surely bothered many of the Tommies as they sipped on their beverages at the Wayzata Country Club and discussed their love of John D. Rockefeller.

It could also represent the number of schools to which the average Johnnie was accepted...    :-*

Didn't Bethel win the MIAC Golf trophy this year?

I can't speak for fellow Johnnies, but I was accepted by three schools:
1. St. John's
2. St. Thomas
3. Worthington Community College

And you should see the trash us WCC'rs talk to Anoka-Ramsey folks.

Yes, first time ever, but I believe that SJU and Gustavus are the only MIAC teams to have taken home a national title.

We don't use the number 1 in our logo either. Neither does our basketball, baseball or softball teams, which do have a few National Championships.

Only because SJU beat you to the punch.  And those other sports?  While I would agree that U$T's had a good deal of success, I tend not to give a rat's hind end about those sports.  We're talking, real, 'Murican football, here, Bench!

Well, none of us hold a candle to Augsburg in wrasslin'

Always amusing watching the Tommie faithful obsess over the SJU logo.  Over, and over and over.

67, love your new signature line.

I like the SJU logo.

Just needed to get that on record.

I also like the less used Johnnie Rat image. Though I suppose people assume we perceive ourselves as actual rodents given the occasional use of their likeness as a logo.

Ok, I need to go and get some cheese.

You asked so........11 National Championships since 1991. Top 4 Nationally the last 24 seasons in a row and the top 20 each year since 1971. 48 Individual National Champions since 1983. 220 All Americans since 1969. So yeah, you could say that but......this is a football board so I never go there.

While I like the SJU logo we have, I am a big fan of the older logo that continues to be used by the baseball team.

It has a great old English feel to it.

Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

This is rather comical coming from an individual who regularly takes personal character shots at Coach Caruso. Over, and over and over again! ::)  But since you brought it up, I have honestly never given a thought to that logo, and now that I've had my first one, I think it perfectly generalizes the johnnie faithful........ Self Absorbed an Tasteless!! 8-) ;)
