Well, Bethel baseball is on a good run right now. Swept the Tommies yesterday in some pretty dramatic games on Cretin. One more win in the final 4 games and they clinch their first ever MIAC title.

Coach Raabe has been a revelation for the program. He's elevated every aspect, from recruiting to hitting to confidence. Here's to hoping he plans to stay around a long time and build something special!

Equally as exciting, Bethel recently got a commitment from a huge QB recruit. Not sure that it's supposed to be public info yet, so I'll hold off with all the details. But he's easily the biggest QB recruit we've ever had* (I realize there's no guarantee a big recruit becomes a great player), maybe the biggest recruit period. We beat out UST, multiple FCS schools, Wiscy and Northwestern (preferred walk-on at the latter 2 I think) to land him.

*I say that because Kirchoff (run based HS system), Wetzel, Aakre and Peterson were all fairly unheralded recruits. Kirchoff was probably the biggest 'get' in terms of recruiting, having lead Hutch to a state title. All of them were pretty phenomenal college QB's that the coaches were excited about coming in. But the incoming freshman is hands down the biggest recruiting score of the bunch, IMO. He's the capstone to what is becoming one BU's best recruiting classes (maybe ever). Developing ...  ;)
Trey Anderson from White Bear?

who's he??

then again, half of this board has the scoop, it must be a pretty lame scoop  ;) :)

There are no binding commitments in DIII, so I'd say it's still quite possible for Caru$o to poach your prize recruit!  :P

Perhaps a trip to Italy would change his mind?

I don't doubt that Caruso will keep trying! But his dad was Coach J's first QB at Bethel and coached men's golf for a period. I think he's pretty solid. The bigger threat were the upper division schools, imo.

BTW Duffman...I owe you some reviews...
Yeah, I have been slacking, too.  I will say that the Troegs Nugget Nectar was great!

Greetings fellow slackers. I see you mentioned beer.
That got me thinking about the recent Cool Beans offering by Third Street Brewery...very tasty. And I'm not typically a guy who would think,  "I'd like to try some beer that's been mixed in with coffee beans."
Not typically a wheat beer guy either...but lately I've been digging the Hunny Do, also from 3rd Street.
Check it out, if you're so inclined...

Think I would need to trek on over to Minnesota to give these a go.... :-\

Come on over this fall.  Take in an SJU game--3rd Street Brewery is only 15 minutes or so from campus.

I'm not so sure the Collegeville gameday experience can compete with fall days in lovely downtown Chester PA...  ::)  (as long as you have your PA Carry license...) ;)

There's more to life that football!  The experience of foreign places, different cultures, hot babes in bikinis...  Time to post some emails...

It's a huge night of footy.  We have a replay of last year's Preliminary Finals, Hawthorn v Port Adelaide and Fremantle v Sydney. Fremantle should be every Johnnie's second team, I guess, since the Aussies who helped SJU win the national college footy championship a few years ago came out of the Fremantle farm system.

The game isn't over but the Hawks are getting thrashed. They'll be 2-2 to start the season and it's looking rough for a threepeat this year. We'll see.

Hawthorn came back from 58 points down to lose by 7. Maybe there is still a post season glory in reach.
