Ha!  I immediately had an mental image of 57 and his rat pack mates hanging on the side of a car doing a moonshine run down from Canada.

No need to go to Canada, Stearns County had plenty moonshiners back in the day. :o
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

In better news, more SJU recruits . . .

Although Apollo High School is not known as a football powerhouse, Ben Alvord was a very good starting quarterback for 4 years.  He was the key to turning the program in the right direction.  He's big, athletic, and a very accurate passer, especially considering the line that blocked for him.  I also thought the Budde kid from Rocori was very talented when I saw him play this year.

They recruited a tank in Barber...rolling thunder...should be able to make a lot of room for Sura.  He will start day 1.

Actually it was Louie Kucera's Model A and it was a stretch to get to St. Cloud and back to the hiding place in the woods.  ;D

When I was at SJU, it was completely ''''dry''''  ;D
...... Of course there were no campus police either ;)

Technically, that was during Prohibition though, right?  :D

Two very good players from the state champion Holdingford Huskers in Brinker and Messman...both are likely eventual starters at LB.  Brinker is an especially athletic kid who played LB, offensive Guard, and RB at times...was also a state champion wrestler this year.

Oh, I'm sure they had their ways.

"Minnesota 13" is a pretty good book chronicling the days of Prohibition in Stearns County.

A tradition unrivaled...

Why on earth would they would be showing film on the 2014 recruiting class is beyond me?  ::)  Another typo on the Tommie$ports page?

I was actually at Plum's last Wednesday and was sitting on the back patio when my wife and daughter saw a rat run under my chair and head for their dumpster.  Nice place!!!

Perhaps it is a typo.  But maybe they want to show their supporters how last year's recruits fared on the field.  Kind of like here's who we brought in and here's what they did.  If you have questions about them ask away and we'll do our best to answer them.  Perhaps it's just me but I don't find that all that odd that the team's supporters would be interested in that.

How do you know about that book, duffman?  I ask because local history is a thankless and profitless job for writers and it's great to see things like this making it to paper.

After reading of the QB & RB heading to Bethel and the stalwart recruiting class from the greater Chicago area heading to U$Td in the fall, I just sent an email to Tom Stock asking that he mercifully withdraw from the MIAC schedule for the 2015 season. Perhaps taking a year off to regroup and find some crumbs on the recruiting trail and maybe comeback in 2016.....  :'(  that's all I've got.

A coworker recommended it to me a few years ago.  Also, my family's been in Stearns County a long time, so quite a few of the surnames in the book are familiar to me.  :o
