Currently helping out Rotary's camp RYLA, such an awesome experience for these kids. If you have kids going in to 11th or 12th grade, send 'em. Your local Rotary club will pay for everything. Great camp.

It looks like Concordia didn't receive a single vote. Does anyone else think that's a little odd?

Yes, I thought they'd get some votes, but it's just a preseason poll.

What about MAC?  They made the playoffs last year and are hosting an elite prospect day on July 24th.   That should count for something.

I noticed that too and then thought that it's pretty tough to vote one league four teams deep before the season even starts.

You're a Uniter, not a Divider?  Huh?  Could've fooled me.

I think UChi moving to the midwest is very exciting.  I wish Carleton would follow Mac's move.  Would be great to see the Knights playing against some other schools on the same academic level (no offense to the rest of the MIAC) with the likes of UChi, Grinnel, and Mac (and others)

A 14 team conference with the ACM members plus UChi instead of Colorado College (for football at least), would truly be magnificent

Just noticed these two gems over on the Midwest Conference Page.

I'd hate to see Carleton leave the MIAC. But if they tried to pull the same move as MAC, I'd hope the MIAC gave them both the boot in all sports. If you're going to slink over to another conference so you can be competitive in football, you should move them all over there. And if the travel conditions suck for the other sports, too bad. That's my take. That 14 team conference might look fun on paper, but I'd be willing to bet it'd be a pretty unstable thing, with travel difficulties and all.

Incidentally, I got into a conversation with a guy on the basketball court last week. He saw my BU shirt and asked if I had gone there. I confirmed his suspicion, and he told me he had been recruited by Carleton in FB, but ended up attending Ottawa University in KS. In the end, the price tag was a little too steep for him at CC. It's still always fun to get to chat with people down here in KC who know a little about the MIAC. A few weeks before that, a couple of guys on an opposing softball team noticed my BU shorts (evidently I wear BU stuff a lot  :-\)...they were former U$T football players. Neither stayed for 4 years. Although the one claimed to have been a long snapper and made a random comment about how they'd have won the Stagg against Mount if he'd been out there for the Punt team.  ::) I forgot to ask them if they knew Chicago Tommie  8-)

We do know the folks from Mac and CC will figure the whole conference thing out, the rest of the MIAC will just be left wondering.

Will be interesting to see if CC does try to move to the Midwest for football. Part of me sees that the Midwest would look to expand but I think eventually they don't want to be a refuge for teams that are having a tough time competing in their own conferences in football.

Let's pray for the families of the four servicemen that lost their lives today in Chattanooga.

My brother, who is a Lieutenant on that police force is safe.
