What I'm thinking tonight is that I wish I could enjoy one more adult beverage from the trunk of OldPa, aka the Janesville Flash.  Hoping he got that motorized bar stool in heaven.

Obituary for the Janesville Flash

I was re-reading the obit for janesvilleflash. It mentions he was a big Chicago Bears fan. At that point I noticed the background of the obituary was a Chicago Bears logo. I'll bet he would have loved that.

Chicago Tommie, had you shown up a few years ago a tailgate party out of the back of your Cadillac and the Flash Cadillac side by side would have been epic.

Now that's funny.  I predict the Tommies lose four games this year.

Been traveling for the last few days and haven't kept up with the news.

RIP Flash

Will be offline during the game so somebody will have to keep the Faithful in line today :)

GO JOHNNIES

The cobber game starts at 4am and that's just too early. I'll be up at 5am. Sorry folks. I need my beauty sleep.

Quick break from this weekend's games, has anyone else heard ESPN might be sending a crew to Collegeville the monring of the Tommie game?  I know this has been a rumor for quite some time, but as they say in the intel business, I'm hearing more chatter on this recently.

I've heard it, but I would be more than amazed if there were truth behind it.

It is true! Yeeeeeeah buddy!

Well, that sounds like fun. I don't think I'll be up in Collegeville that early but maybe I'll catch some of it on TV before driving up. Otherwise I'll hit it on my DVR later.

Big game for the Johnnies today just got a little bigger. Hard to take much away from the first two weeks. It was nice to see the offense put up big numbers again and allow backups some time.

Getting off the field and sustaining drives will be the key today. SJU was able to do that against UST & Bethel last year but not CON. This will be their first real test of 2015.

Oz -

With the Rugby World Cup just about to be underway, I'm curious on what the Australian interest level is?  Is rugby as a sport just overshadowed by ARF, or is it something that folks get excited about there??  Is there a rivalry with the All Blacks, or is there a general enthusiasm about them given the proximity?

Looking forward to watching the SJU - CORD game tomorrow...hopefully Stretch is up to the task!

You've got a little tmerton style going there with ARF.

Oz is mad for sports in general and every event is followed widely, but different sports have different fan bases. Rugby is the primary in east (Sydney) and North (Brisbane) while ARF is more popular in the south and west and remote places.

I think this RWC is over before it starts.  The All Blacks have been very strong this year.  Australia won't be able to beat them.

The old Barassi Line, although I think that's starting to break down a little bit these days.

How about these stats from last season's Cobber / Johnnie Game:

Third-Down Conversions    CC 11 of 18    SJU 2 of 8
Fourth-Down Conversions    CC 2 of 3            SJU 0 of 2
Red-Zone Scores-Chances    CC 3-6            SJU 2-2
   Touchdowns      CC  2-6       SJU 2-2
Field goals      CC  1-6       SJU 0-2

I recall watching most of that game, and that Griffin Neal had an extremely effective day...he really had the offense going efficiently, and was doing a lot himself.

I think we all felt that if Nick Martin had been healthy enough to play the outcome would have been different.

I'm feeling as good as I ever can when the Cobbers are the opponent.  Neal is gone and Martin is healthy.
Neal is gone, yes, but he never had the receiving corps that the Cobbers have this year. Not sure last year's stats are helpful in assessing today's matchup. Should be a great game on a great football day.

If the human brain were so simple that we could fully understand it...we would be so simple that we couldn't.

DuffMan

Nice video production for the Cobbers except for the camera work.  Otherwise, it was pretty flawless.

A tradition unrivaled...

Strange end in Moorhead today.

Big game and big TV next week.  I wonder if ESPN will broadcast that Tommies suck?
