QuoteAbout how the game has even spawned a new color -- "rurple" -- to describe the purple and red blend that fans create in the bleachers.

I have never, ever heard the term "rurple", and I hope not to.  I had to choke back some vomit just typing it.

Since when have Johnnie and Tommie fans sat mixed together to create the perception of such a B.S. color?
All the games I have been to there are Johnnie fans in one block and Tommie fans in another--distinctly red and distinctly purple.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

No offense to Linfield (great football program), but those two colors should not be together.

Much like Green and Yellow

Yes, the only rurple I have ever seen is at the Catdome.

Yeah, not a classic color combo but I like that we're a little different.  Besides the football program does it right in just adding a dash of the red with the helmet decals.

Sidenote: I would LOVE to be in Collegeville this weekend.  Extremely jealous.

Agreed.  I have a bit of a fondness for it simply because it's a rarity.

We just moved three weeks ago and with the bye week...we're building a fence this weekend.  If I had better planning, I should have pulled the trigger during the summer months. :(

However, the dogs will be excited to play some fetch when it's done.

Wildcat11 - business takes me into McMinnville on the 24th next month when you guys are up against Whitworth -  Should I take in the game?  Just pulling your leg - I plan to be in the Cat Dome that afternoon/evening to take in the game. I'll be the guy wearing the Navy Blue sweatshirt with Bethel Football on it.  ;D

Room to park or room to tailgate?  My bet is that the inner parking lots will be filled by then, but parking in the fields and riding the shuttle up to the Warner Palaestra is quite convenient.  That's our ETA, as well, and I don't plan on messing with inner-campus parking.

I'll probably just park in the field again. Just gotta bring my cooler with wheels or something.

That should be a heck of a game.  Whitworth is starting to build back into something with their new coach. Make sure you track me down.  I'm running around the sidelines with a video camera.  See you then.

Yes, the only rurple I have ever seen is at the Catdome.

The raptors sported some rurple when they first came into the nba (and any semi-functioning human being would be able to identify the combination of red and purple as red-violet; we don't need to create a crappy portmanteau word for a color that already exists)

On another note, does anyone know if Saint Thomas is affiliated with any particular sect of Catholicism?  Everywhere I look I just see "Catholic" when describing them.  I know the Johnnies have the Benedictine monks, and I'm wondering if some differences in their theologies contribute to a heightened sense of rivalry?
