And I'm sure it was also Gene who decided to misrepresent the truth about their international trips this summer. No way was Glenn influencing the communication that was coming out of the SID office.  :-\
Perhaps way late to the discussion here, but what truths were misrepresented about the international trip over late May-early June?
I believe Rube is under the impression that UST took trips to Italy AND Canada this summer.  Which would be against NCAA rules if it was true.

Is it still the case if nobody takes both trips, and some went to Italy, the rest to Canada?
well if I was legal, they'd have publicized it?  It only fits the conspiracy if there is no evidence.

I'm under no impression, just sharing information. I would share the initial TommieSports.com release about the Canada trip but it's no longer available online. No surprise there's plenty to be found on the Italy trip.

Either way, there's a lot of other accounts and mentions of the game available online. Below is a sampling.

To Pat's point, I don't know if any players or coaches attended both trips. I don't care much about any advantage gained from either trip. From first hand accounts of those who watched the Canada games in person, they weren't very competitive games as the talent of the teams was suspect. The traveling party to Canada was larger than the Italy group.

UST shouldn't apologize for publicizing the Italy trip. I'm sure those who went had a great experience and it does serve as a nice recruiting tool. What I don't understand is why you'd make a trip that many more team members went on, and played in, essentially disappear. In a vacuum it's not a big deal, but add it to other strange moments and I find myself wondering what can be taken as truth.

I have UST connections that go beyond my dislike for Glenn. That's the reason I paid so much attention this summer to the two international trips.
Thanks for presenting the evidence.  Definitely curious that this wasn't publicized by UST.  Do we know how long this Canada trip was?  I couldn't find any restriction in the D3 manual about how many countries you're allowed to visit on the foreign tour.  Just once every 3 years.  I had the opportunity to take a trip to Ecuador my Senior year, so maybe I should remember the rules a little better.  You are limited to 3 games and the 10 pre-trip practices can only be attended by people going on the trip, so maybe you could say the Tommies aren't quite within the spirit of the rule there as the full group didn't make the full trip to Canada and Italy.

UST Football's Twitter tweeted good luck to North Winnipeg in the playoffs just a few days ago. So, not exactly a cover up. Also, I don't think they beat anyone over the head with the Italy trip publicity-wise. A few blurbs written by Gene, a link to the game (which I watched about 5 minutes of, oof) and a Youtube video of their sightseeing tour.

So we've moved on from photogate, to tripgate and rostergate? ...with perhaps a little dog fighting and arson mixed in? Wow!

It provides the rest of us with great entertainment...you never know what new feigned insult or offense UST / GC will have committed.  The Glenn Caruso butthurt factor among the SJU crowd has never been higher, IMO, which makes for very good reading here.

There is a lot of entertainment in this thread. I thoroughly enjoy it even while scratching my head at the distaste for an opposing head coach.

Sansevere had a Q&A about the trip in the Pioneer Press, and TommieMedia ran stories and a couple segments on their youtube coaches show.  Again, after re-reading the rules, I'm confident the players are allowed to go to multiple countries during their once every three years foreign tour.  They probably just wanted to control the headline so it didn't look like an extravagant worldwide tour?  The bus trip up to Winnipeg for 1 day isn't much more of a big deal then going to Grand Forks, but it can obviously rub people the wrong way if they perceive it a little differently.

Speaking of Grand Forks, I've been a season ticket holder for UND MBB for the last few years and this past summer they played games in both Italy and France, nobody on the Bisonville MBB board seemed to even notice, because they do the same thing. If you're upset at UST for living the opulent lifestyle and going to unnecessarily exotic locations for a football game, then I guess you're missing the point of the trip to Italy. If you could swing it fiancially, it was probably an awesome once-in-a-lifetime bonding experience with what will probably be some of your best lifelong friends. It seemed football was a bit of an afterthought. It also seemed from the highlights that a lot of kids on the Canada trip were probably getting the most game-action they will ever get in their collegiate careers. It seemed some were even playing both ways. I think that's pretty great.

Failing to see what the issue is other than SJU fans going scorched earth after they lose. Bordering on being about as pathetic as the St. Olaf grass-gate whining.

Can we put an end to the over-quoting?  Is going nine quotes deep on a reply necessary?  Seems like something Caruso would do.
