My 87 year old sister from Green Bay is flying into western Colorado today to celebrate her baby brother's 80th birthday.  :)
There are a few things that trump JOHNNIE football - but not many. :D

Happy Birthday 57Johnnie!

Happy Birthday 57Johnnie!
Thank you but not until Sunday. When I was little, I thought all Catholics had to go to church because it was my birthday but when I got to St. John's I found out we had to go to church because it was John Gagliardi's birthday.  ;D

I guess all our posters do comprise 'All Saints'. :)

Mr.MIAC

Just want to point out that UST is the least overrated team on the D3 poll. Considering that over half the UST votes are likely from SJU fans, not a bad result...

OzJohnnie

To call them "least overrated" means that you concede they are overrated, just not as much as others. I find your argument persuasive.

I looked at Rev's post and wondered this, plus that "half the UST votes are likely from SJU fans."  I figure it is Friday Happy Hour in DC.

Mr.MIAC

So I'm talking about the D3 reader poll on the main page. I don't concede anything. I'm simply pointing out what the poll currently reflects...it's safe to say many of the votes for UST being overrated are from SJU fans. Also, it is happy hour here in DC...

It is interesting that the Johnnies have such a vivid recollection of this abduction. In October of 1989 I was already out of college and I was out of the country. I came back at the end of October and of course heard about it immediately. This case is close to home for you guys. I hope they have the right guy. I trust the UST Bench type guys will put him away for a long time where he might meet a premature demise.  I certainly can't remember  where I  was when I heard the news because the shock value had already passed.  As a parent it is heartbreaking to consider that the child porn problem is so large that you can actually google it. I find it very interesting and comforting  that the FBI and other agencies are able to nail these dopes through thier IP address.

I was 20 years old when Jacob was abducted and did not become a parent until I was about 31.  I honestly believe that his disappearance impacted how I parented my children.  I don't believe I'm over protective however I've been vigilant.  I also worry my ass off each time  the want to walk or bike a few blocks to a friends house.

On the same page as Faunch here....I remember being at practice and wondering what the ROTC boys were doing out in the woods at this time of day.  Didn't find out until after supper what was going on.  I also became a father in Oct of '91 to twin girls.  My wife always said I was WAY over protective about where they went because we lived in a small town.  And I would just remind her of Jacob and she think about it and agree with me....

A minor miracle. Congratulations. I'm a little jealous.
