Can't believe those cla$$le$$ a$$hole$ at U$T.  Ju$t becau$e they have a better record, won the conference, won head-to-head on the road, and have the #1 $eed in the bracket (bought and paid for), they think they $hould get to hoSt a game again$t the Gentleman Johns.  They had to have bribed the NCAA.  NCAA probably in on it too.  U$T will probably make St. John's wear their road jerseys too, without even thinking to a$k. No cla$$, no clas$$ at all.

YIKES - I guess I need to be clearer... I'd thought taking the time to replace all (with one careless mistake) of the s's with $'$ would have been enough to show the humorous intent, but had forgotten that UST's Irish Catholic wit was lost on our stoic German rivals.

And now it's gone ethnic. I love it.

I'm glad the game is in St. Paul.  A lot shorter drive for me.  I don't think home field will provide any advantage.  Short trip of the Johnnies and it's not like they are unfamiliar with the surroundings.  I expect a relatively strong turn out from Johnnie Nation.

Warning, warning, the following is a mere observation, not a shot.

Caruso's quotes in the paper stating how excited he is to play the Johnnies again seem a little too excited.  A lot more pressure on his team this time around.

What about this quote from the Strib: ""We're not real into style points when we're playing a team we know we are going to triple Monkey Stomp™,'' Caruso said. "If that means it doesn't look pretty when we start the game, so be it."

I fixed it using the most liberal construction of the "massage the quote" rule from media writing.  ;D

Caruso is so classless.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

In all seriousness, I take this to mean that there is going to be a steady dose of the run game with Roberts. Caruso is going to be completely OK with 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

Sorry for so off topic during Johnnie/Tommie II: Sura's Breakfast, but I thought I was going a little crazy the last two weeks and it just dawned on me that I'm not (quite).

The AFL draft is tomorrow and it was while listening to the radio that I just figured out what was odd. The number one draft pick is expected to be a guy named Jacob Weitering. After the talk last month about Jacob Wetterling I couldn't figure out which name was which.

I wonder who he's trying to convince win that line. When you do a behind-the-back pass for a two-point conversion in a blowout against massively inferior competition, then it looks like style points are very important to you.

My guess: the sting of the criticism he must have received from that play calling has him trying to reset the F.A.M.I.L.Y. values they hold important at UST(d).  I say that's a smart move. Nothing like trying to change your team's motivations during the post season.

Just FYI to all of the folks up in arms: What Caruso actually said was, shall we say, joined in progress in the Strib story. It went something like this: 'This is the playoffs, and in the playoffs, we're not real into style points.'

And one last though as I ride the train to work. The NCAA had better put a good officiating crew on this game. There could be riots if it's another bunch of indecisive blind Freddy's from Illinois like we had last week against Dubuque.

Sorry to bust on the Johnnie fan narrative but that's what he actually said. Guess I'll include the audio in the podcast for you.

It all works. Style during the season against the cellar-dwellers and all biziness in the post-season against worthy competition. Sure, his motivation is different than I argued (what was I thinking that feedback would change behaviour?) but the story is still the same. Even better. Less respect involved.

Mr.MIAC

It's funny how the Johnnies are always banging on about the Tommies being classless. Everyone has a class to which they're suited. If you're looking to travel first class, aim for Cretin & $ummit. For those more amenable to steerage class, Collegeville is there for you. Of course there's nothing wrong with either choice...they're just different ways of traveling through life.   ;)

D O.C.

I do not know who said it first about style points, Wildcat11 in his blog or Caruso.
Do know Caruso would rather be playing the red rather than the purple teams left in the bracket.

Pat, embrace the now....Johnnie-Tommie Part 2....as the site owner,it doesn't really get any better than that!!!
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Mr.MIAC

This will be the first postseason Tommie-Johnnie game in history. Given it's the playoffs, I'm sure outsiders are checking out this MIAC board. Perhaps a board veteran could help educate them by answering the following multiple choice question:

It's game day and we're approaching kickoff. The Johnies are out in force on the beautiful campus of the University of St. Thomas, one of the nation's finest Catholic universities. The Johnnies are pumped and ready to go. Their school spirit is climaxing after a weeklong, wall-to-wall Johnnie __________?

A. Massage Party
B. Hand-holding Session
C. Circle J--k
D. Smokefest
