From my seat at the 50 yard line, 2nd row of the Fowler Veranda it was clear very early that it was not going to be the Johnnies day.  Tommies were just too good, again.  They are a very, very good team.  Possibly better than 2012.  I think they will handle Wabash.  After that we'll find out how good.

Until they face a team with a front 7 that can handle that huge offensive line and Roberts they're a tough out.

Why do teams in the Big 10 who finish the year 5-7(Minnesota), hold out hope that they are "Bowl eligible" and SEC schools who finish 9-3 (Georgia),fire their coach?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Thanks to the seniors for making SJU relevant again in the MIAC and nationally.  You are a fine group of young men who have contributed to the long, proud legacy of Johnnie football.  Things didn't turn out the way any of would have liked.  That does not diminish what you have accomplished.  You rebuilt the foundation of Johnnie football that will undoubtedly be built upon by coach Fasching and staff.  The last two years, with the last 8-9 games all being elimination games made for exciting and memorable seasons for we fans.

Hold your heads high.   You family, friends and all of Johnnie Nation are proud of you.

Does The Bear offer access to SJU game recordings after the fact? WCCO has podcasts of all the UST games listed on its website. I'm sure SJU must have something similar, but I can't find them. Link please.

Thanks! Yeah, with the holidays approaching we're a little worried the septic system might not be able to handle the influx of guests. I figure this problem is well within your area of expertise:

Just tell you Uncle Eddie not to come this year.

So I just listened to the Johnnie broadcast of the UST/SJU game. I won't go too far on this point, as it makes no sense to pour salt into anybody's wounds after an emotional loss. I say this as someone who engages in some edgy banter, but down deep respects the SJU program. You guys might want to consider switching up your broadcast team.

It's good to be passionate about your team. Maybe it's even okay to come off a little biased, especially when your listenership is mostly regional. That being said, your broadcaster named Mark just comes off like an unprofessional, whiny little bit@h. Every time UST runs a successful play they MUST have cheated in some way. The officials are NEVER fair to the Johnnies. Everything the UST coaches and/or administrations do is CLEARLY classless.

The Johnnies should take ownership of their mistakes, not constantly look to displace blame. It's like this spiteful Mark guy is operating with Johnnie blinders on and the program can do no wrong. It comes off as entitled and pathetic to listeners...no wonder other coaches won't take his interviews. It can't help recruiting. The Johnnies deserve better than this guy, who's more than a little embarrassing.

The other guys were better. It's clear they're not neutral, but at least they make a point of congratulating UST and acknowledging areas where SJU needs to improve. I think they recognize how off Mark sounds, given the fact that they're pretty willing to disagree with him on air. Maybe get rid of Mark and promote one of these guys.

I know!! WTH? It's like when I go to watch one of my hockey teams play the Habs in Montreal and I can only watch the hometown feed and IT IS IN FRENCH!! How dare they be so biased as to cater to THEIR fans and not take into account everyone else's feelings and language skills!! I took German! ::)

Hey Old Rat,

I agree...the Johnnies are a good team, I believe they(Johnnies) were the 3rd or 4th best team in the playoffs. The Tommie's are very strong... I know they will win out!😄

I don't like strawberry ice cream; it's too sweet. They should just take it out if the Neapolitan bucket so I can more easily enjoy my chocolate and vanilla.

Sounds high maintenance to me.
You're crazy....the Neapolitan triple threat is a solid ice cream selection.  Don't change anything!  ;)

A balanced neapolitan can be delicious. However, the flavor becomes off-putting when quality control allows strawberry to dominate. Consumers, especially those with plenty of flavors from which to choose, start to question what made neapolitan all that great in the first place.

Here's an idea, don't eat the Neapolitan! Stick with the vanilla, that seem more your speed! I personally prefer cookies n cream!

As much as it pains me, I have to side with Reverend here.  While I respect Mark's play-by-play skills, I can't handle how over-the-top he is.  As a Johnnie diehard, I find it extremely hard to listen to games.  No offense intended.

I just want to thank all the Tommie and Johnnie faithful on this board for an entertaining Saturday. The back and forth had me chuckling pretty hard. Thanks again.

I'd have to echo Duff here and painfully agree with the Rev.

I listened to both Tommie/Johnnie games this year (as well as watching the first). I was surprised how outright disrespectful he seemed to be of UST and especially of Caruso. We can have our fun on the boards. It's banter in an internet chat room. But Mark is speaking as a representative of SJU. So to hear him talk about how 'no one likes UST'...'it's common knowledge ever dislikes the Tommies and loves to hear them get beat,' etc. was just unprofessional. You can hear and sense the awkwardness as the other guys try to back away from the comments when he makes them.

He's got a great voice, great pacing and actually calls a good from a descriptive point of view. And I can get the homer view of a penalty here or there. But it's just so consistently and steeply slanted. Again, I say this recognizing the Johnnie broadcast is the gold standard in D3. From a production and quality standpoint, they're exceptional.

I think of PA calling the Vikes games. You know from his show that he's as big a Vikings homer as there is. But when he calls the games, there's an increased level of professionalism. You still hear his excitement when they succeed (and you should) and some disappointment when they lose. But there's a level of respect for officials and opposing teams/coaches that is lacking when VOJ is calling SJU games.

Having said that, I do think the other guys on the team do a great job in their respective roles.

GoldandBlueBU

Completely agree with Duff and Hazz...he's really top notch in terms of play by play for the D3 level, and better than a lot of larger programs in that area.  He makes it really easy to understand what's going on during the plays for the listener, and during the play, there isn't anyone better in the MIAC.

However, when everything, literally every...single...play that didn't go SJU's way should've been a penalty on the other team, or was a bad penalty call on SJU, or every play at the whistle was a dirty hit or should've been a late hit personal foul etc, etc, etc, it becomes painful to listen to.

I get that he's SJU's guy, and he should be biased, but there is a difference between being biased and having a completely sold out homer that can only see things from one side being on the radio.  As Hazz pointed out, you can feel the awkwardness in the booth when someone else isn't willing to get on board with his rabid opinions.
