So we're all too familiar with the constant, wall-to-wall SJ2 smokefest. What's it called when the Johnnies and their friends from McMinnville join forces? Is that more of a lovefest? Sounds magical...

dc1, will you be on the sideline Saturday?  Weather will be much more pleasant compared to your last trip.

I hear ya, and as a PLU guy I'm really conflicted here. See we were clearly SJU's first PacNW crush. We had a playoff date with them 4 years in a row ('98-'01). We had the cute Frosty and Gags thing going. Invested in the relationship; enlightened conversations about the Reformation and Scandinavian traditions; we don't tackle at practice either; all smitten.

Then in 2002...tap, tap on the shoulder. Fricking Linfield cuts in and they've been making out with the Johnnies ever since. WTH?

So do I: Root for our arch-rival and that 'collective' fan base? Or root for the boy-hugger and his evil empire? Geez...

:D ;D ;)

Sorry to hear that.  I know you'll be in St. Paul in spirit.

You mean the home seating on the visitor's side of the field?  ::)

It's probably best to look toward the future instead of reminiscing about the past. I'd say go for the evil empire.

PS: This will take you back to the empire's birth:

Nice article on the Tommies on the front page of D3football.com.

Started with:

"Quick, name five players on this year's St. Thomas roster.  Unless you're a close follower of the Tommies, chances are you struggled to come up with a response. And that's just fine with St. Thomas."

I thought sure the next sentence was going to be:

"As long as you know the name of the coach."

You're quite the rhetorician. A little more wit with your banter, please.

Reverend... you must be a man of the cloth... maybe a Kotex or Tampon.  Either way soiled with your own ass juice.

Sounds light you polished off a few tonight. I should introduce you to Chicago Tommie.

Weather forecast for Saturday's games:

St. Paul, MN - 39 F,  24% chance of rain and winds out of the East at 7 mph at kick-off of 2:30 pm.

Alliance, OH - 60 F, 30 % chance of rain and winds out of the South-Southwest at 10 mph at kick-off of 11:00 am.

We all know that these conditions will probably change a little more as we get even closer to the games, but two days out it's looking like we'll have fair weather for the teams to decide who gets to go to the Stagg Bowl in eight days.

See, now, I will always have a bit of a soft spot in my heart for PLU.  The 1998 and 1999 games were epic.  Our trip out there in 2000 was a blast, our 2001 game in the awful Fargodome was so fun, and I eventually wore out my PLU shirt.  The issue is that PLU did something that Linfield has never done...beat SJU.  :o
