And here are a few others. St. Olaf may have gotten a steal with Emmanuel Moton out of Georgia.

Hanson Devine?  Poor kid. Could be worse. It could be Devine Brown.

The Battle of the Burgs wrestling dual was scheduled this past week. Although the Auggies lost the dual they are still in good shape for Nationals. They know how to avoid peaking too early and are built to win it all. You will get a feel for the big stage and the intensity of the rivalry by watching this Wartburg produced highlight. The announced attendance was 2,200.

The sad thing is that the timing works out such that he might (probably?) have been named after the group Hanson.

I always wanted to work for Rupert Murdoch...

It was an awesome opportunity and I'm very, very grateful. Was also fun writing that particular piece as it ties into my love of hoops, history, and, of course, my book!

One note: For the snarky commenter, and one guy on Twitter who yelled at me, the fact is I'm not good in math, as any of my old teachers could tell you (actually Robert Zimmerman could probably attest to that too). But, in fact, I had nothing to do with the "magnitude" line as it was added by an editor.

Anyway, still a wonderful opportunity.

Greetings from Peru. I just returned back to my hotel from Machu Picchu. It was amazing. In any event, I did some digging and found a few kids who will be playing the in MIAC next season.

Though her name has not been brought up recently here, what did all think of Lady Gaga's rendition of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl? I was at a party with about 40 others. About 20 - 25 people (mostly men) gave a spontaneous ovation when she finished. Haven't seen that before while watching on TV.

So are you saying they went gaga over Gaga?  :o

For those of you interested in the AFL mystique, I came across a phenomenal hour long documentary on the '89 Grand Final between the Hawthorn and Geelong.  It's universally recognised as the greatest Grand Final ever played, and the last and most brutal of the old-time hockey type games.  Over 20 years later it's plainly visible that the emotion of the day still runs raw with the men that literally fought on the field that day.

Eddie Shore would not approve.

Oz, I had this on in the background while doing some other stuffs over the weekend - that was a brutal game! It was great how the film makers pulled in perspective from the players at the age they are now versus when they played the game way back when.

Thanx!

Thanks for posting this Oz. It was great to see some of those legendary players again (Dipper, Rat, Ablett, Brereton, et al) and a brilliant reminder of why I started watching footy all those years ago.
