Last week I posted a question about the Capital job over on the OAC board. There weren't many ringing endorsements about the administration at Capital. The opinion was the move from Hamline to Capital would be a lateral move at best. I wish him the best and if the move involves being closer to family, I can understand it.

According to the release on HU's website the Capital coach left to be the Assistant Director of Football Operations at D-I Georgia Tech, whatever that entails. So good for him....

Assistant to the Travelling Secratery. Watch Georgia Tech take the field in shrunken cotton uniforms next year.

Maybe not ... I can't really see George Costanza leaving New York for Atlanta, even if they were desperate enough to hire him.

57, who was that author you mentioned on the Creep Me Out board?  I haven't read him before and I was thinking of ordering a book to try it out. Thanks.

Franz Kafka
The Trial gave me nightmares.
Never got courage enough to read Metamorphosis.
I'm sure some other posters can comment.

I read Metamorphosis in h.s. or college. It's not creepy in a gorish way, but if you take the time to think about how it is written, it's enough to make you very, very creeped out. I've never been able or interested in picking up another Kafka book. A little too twisted for me.

bennie

How does this not get mentioned on the board, especially during the off season??!!

Reminds me a bit of the Mitch Lee incident.

I understand that it's about a Hamms salesman that wakes up one morning and finds out he has changed into a cockroach. The creepy part, I'm told, is that he has lost his taste for beer........
or something like that.  ;D

senior associate athletic director Chris Werle acknowledged that investigative action was being taken. "We've seen some of the things on social media and we're looking into it," he said.

I bet you are, pal. I bet you've had to spend some long, late nights looking into some of those things in the Internet.  :o

I just ordered both The Metamorphosis and The Trial from bookdepository.com.  AU$11.23 with free world-wide shipping (the Book Depository is a UK company, I think).  That's US$8.06.  I don't see how physical retailers stay in business.

EDIT: It dispatches from the warehouse in the UK tomorrow and will be on my doorstep early next week.

A global, direct retail supply chain is crazy.  So few things must be physically anchored in order to be effective.  Wouldn't it be interesting if sport is what "saves" the modern university?  Knowledge and expert access are digital, only tradition holding a revolution at bay.  But sport, with athletic sport you gotta be on the same ground at the same time to have a contest.  What a difference it would be that instead of a student discount to the football, you can't even attend without a student pass or alumni card?  The university changes mission to a sporting club where the cost of entry is on-site education.

Interesting (to me anyway).  I wonder if something like that will happen one day.

EDIT II: I can't help but ponder further, but what if seat location was not a matter of seniority but instead academic performance?

This reminds me of a conversation I had last week with a customer of mine. We were talking about the Twin Cities business scene and the national & international companies headquartered here. This gentleman is the CEO of a company that makes industrial floor scrubbers, you've seen them in big box retail stores or schools or airports cleaning the floor as the worker rides on them like a Zamboni except for hard floors, not ice.Anyway his take away was "thank God that my product can not be sold on the Internet like electronics, clothes or books". His business,as mine, is still a relationship business. The world is so munch smaller now than it was prior to Al Gore inventing the Interwebs.. ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

SJUrube

Big news broke from Collegeville this afternoon. Thursday, May 4, SJU will break ground on Gagliardi Field, a multi purpose practice athletic field featuring a seasonal dome. Great news for the future of Johnnie Athletics.

That's exciting.  I had a quick look and couldn't find a press release on it.  Do you have a link?

I came across a fake classifieds page but it's still pretty funny.  Makes me wish it was real.
