The older it gets?  ;)

Sort of like "The older the violin the sweeter the music." Which leads me to my concern of the lack of sightings in the neighborhood of 57Johnnie.

Usually he comes around regularly to tell us to get off his lawn. Especially when the board has been slow like lately, that irritates him and he tells us hoodlums to pick it up.

Barf.  ::)

I think Mount Union and UWW might have something to say about U$T being included in the "Purple Powers".  There's something that both of those teams have that U$T doesn't.

What would that be...legitimate intraconference competition?    :-*
MU gets pushed once a decade by Ohio Northern or Baldwin Wallace and UWW is now being pushed by Oshkosh but a decade ago it was  Stevens Point. UST is new to their role in the MIAC with Bethel & SJU winning titles in 2013 & 2014. Your argument lacks substance.....

Nothing unusual there...

Ol 57 is here and have been reading the guitar posts so will stir it up.
Since I think Django was the granddaddy of them all, I am partial to the Selmer-Maccaferri, not that I can play one. :)  If you can find one that is playable, it will start at about 25k and you can't even plug it into anything.  ;D
Speaking of the older violins, Stephane Grappelli favored a 1695 Cappa.
Keep scratching your heads youngsters and then YouTube or Google:

Now THAT'S how you tell the neighborhood delinquents to get off your lawn!

Good to see you 57!

That's how you prove you're so old you don't care about the lawn but still young enough to appreciate real music.
Fezz Fritsche and his Goosetown Band from New Ulm? :D

#2 has retired from gymnastics and has taken up competitive aerobics. All I'll say is that anyone who thought sitting through a gym comp was boring...  Baalzebub himself invented aerobics competitions. I now hate Ricky Martin songs with a burning, fiery passion.  If I hear that Cup of Life song on the radio driving home today I may just accelerate off the freeway and into a tree.

But on the plus side, I forgot my wallet and all my money and I'm down here in Geelong. Luckily, banks here do a cardless withdrawal where you can use the phone banking app to text yourself a number and get cash from an ATM. Very convenient.

Competitive aerobics? Maybe you have a budding national champion on your hands.

I was shocked to see only one Mount Union guy on the list, but then I saw that they graduated 10 All-Americans from last season's team. Should be interesting to see what depth they have behind all those seniors.

One interesting little data point is that over 50% of these players come from a program that finished in the top 10 last season. So with roughly 240 DIII teams, does that mean the majority of talent is concentrated in the top 5% of the division or are the experts at Lindy's just focussing on the top 5%?

I have no doubt that it's the former.  I'm sure cases can be made that the top talent is spread over more teams, but in my view, it's really a select group of teams that consistently have the most talent.  For me, the margin of victory in the early playoff rounds supports this as well.

GoldandBlueBU

Yeah, I'd agree...how many teams are legitimate contenders to win the championship each year? 3-5?  Fewer?  2-3?

Clearly upsets can happen, but I think you could say before the season that the champion will be one of a handful of options with a relatively high degree of confidence.

jknezek

Not to mention if you are a publication looking to get people to buy your magazine, having all your names from the 3 teams that have made a Stagg Bowl in the last 11 years is a very bad idea.

Lots of teams have one or two stand outs, but I think these lists, especially for a division the size of DIII with so little crossover, are kind of silly. I love that W&L has a lineman listed. He's very good and I'm pleased he's getting some recognition. But he's here mainly because he's the best lineman on an offense that was the top rushing offense in DIII. Why? Because they ran a spread option. They ran it really, really well, but you think that inflated their running game numbers? He'd be the same really good player at any other DIII, but without those eye popping team rushing numbers I doubt he's getting recognized this way. 6-3, 260 is how W&L lists him. Hmm...

So yeah, a little silly. Especially in the positions that just don't have comparative stats, like Oline.
