Quick!  Duffman has to raise himself some cabin money!  Someone get the campervan.

Five bedroom, lakefront, three-story, large block of land at the end of cul-de-sac for $599k (and they may accept a little less if they really want to sell)?  I can't even begin to estimate what place like that would go for here anywhere near two hours away from the city.

That's some pad.

Agreed!  Our neighbor listed a crappy, aged, 1K square foot seasonal cabin for $480K.  She didn't get it, but I know she got over $400K for it.

The street value of the things I work with to could have me Scrooge McDuck-ing from here to eternity if I wouldn't end up in prison.  And I'm not talking white-collar resort prison.  It's nice to dream.  ;)

Also can't overrate the nicer weather that comes with being a couple hundred miles south of the Northwoods lakes.  It was hovering around 50 and windy most of the weekend up on Vermilion, but the walleyes came out for the night bite.

Also, less traffic headed that way versus heading north.  Mrs. Duff's family has a place on a lake about 10 miles NW of Green Lake.  We hop on Highway 55 from the metro, and traffic rarely affects us.

Agreed Duff. When Fins, Jr. comes to give me fishing lessons, he takes 55 from Hopkins. It's way less stress than the 94 parking lot.
As for location, couldn't be happier with the Pearl Lake Yacht Club, being 15 miles from the big granite city, and just a tad more than that from SJU.* Last night got home, did a few chores, grabbed 2 beers and headed out on the pontoon and watched the sunset.

Have a good, tropical, Hamm's-filled weekend, all.

*not to mention, being able to take a 10 mile Fatboy ride and meet Mr. & Mrs. 105 for beers at the Spilled Grain Taphouse

If we weren't in a rush to get to the lake this afternoon, I would suggest we meet for a pit stop.

The Hawks put in their first four quarter effort this year and beat the Essendon Injectors 151 - 43. A boring game overall but it was nice to see flowing ball movement and deadly scoring.  It looks like the boys have another couple gears available as goal shooting accuracy was a little off at times and they over-handled the ball for a stretch of the third quarter when their intensity dropped.

They will need those extra gears next weekend as they play North Melbourne this coming Friday night. North sit on top of the standings at 10-1 (Hawthorn are fifth at 9-3). If North lose to Geelong today and then Hawthorn next week then it will be a very tight race for post season seeding in the second half of the year.

And just to bring us Johnnie fans back down to earth a little:

Lindy’s Honors SJU Defensive Duo, Ranks SJU No. 24

But there was this exciting bit from the story:

The Johnnies open the 2016 season with a 1 p.m. kickoff Sept. 3 against St. Scholastica in Clemens Stadium, the first of five regular-season home games this fall. SJU is expected to return 13 of their 24 starters (five on offense, six on defense and both special-teams specialists) in 2016.

Who? What happened to "Bombers"? Or is that too aggressive and non-pacifist in this day and age?

No, they are still officially the Bombers. Their unofficial nickname is the Injectors because 34 current and past players are serving a two-year suspension for PED cheating in the 2012 season.

They could also be the E-roids, in (dis)honor of Alex Rodriquez ('A-roid'), though I suppose American baseball disgraces may not be big enough on the Aussie landscape.

Thanks for setting me straight Oz. I had completely forgotten about the PED issue, so my irony detector didn't even twitch.

Looked at the Augsburg campus this month and the new $70 million CSBR is coming together. This development will really change the center of the campus and the look of Augsburg will be completely different from Riverside Avenue. Parking will be a challenge as the new center took out about 200 parking spots. The school did open up some new parking near the dorms but it will be interesting especially when the big draw teams come to play at Edor Nelson. I did notice that the location of the house I lived in on campus which was pushed down long ago is right where the new center is going up. No big deal, we destroyed that house on our own anyway.

Section 105, you can tie up your horses in Murphy Square park, plenty of grass for them to graze during the game.  Maybe you could set up a little pony ride for the kids? $5 per ride.

FWIW - I received my annual letter from Bethel with my season tickets in it and the two pages of information about the incoming freshman/recruits as well as the returning players. Bridge Tussler was mentioned as a returner at running back, so that answers an inquiry asked here earlier this spring. Just passing the info along.

It will be interesting to see how BU comes out this season after a so-so 5 and 5 season last year. At least for BU, the schedule has been tossed around and instead of playing Augsburg at the end of the season like they have for awhile now, they get them in week 9. BU's bye week is October 22nd, the week before St. Thomas at Royal Stadium.

The June podcast is out, and Pat and Keith continue to bring us stories we don't hear anywhere else.
