The latest around the nation podcast is out featuring Coach Caruso.

I thought that this podcast just whets our appetites for the coming season. I found it really interesting how the Stevenson program has progressed in just 6 years.

Are Spring workouts underway yet?  Has anyone seen anything at the SC Times on the J's?
Yea, spring was a couple months ago mate. Being in the wrong hemisphere will do that to a guy.... ;)

No, fall workouts have not yet officially begun.

Ha!  Doh.

I was sitting here trying to figure out the sarcasm/humor of the original post. Upon failing miserably, I read further and felt a lot better about myself   :)

Back when the USFL tried and failed with a spring football season up here they should have moved down under.

Another victory, but ugly. This season is getting the same feeling as the Johnnie season where we lost to Coe at home in the playoff a few years ago.  Racking up the wins but not playing well and that will come to bite you when the heat turns up.

D3football.com pre-season All Americans are out. There is a sprinkling of MIAC talent.

Hanson & Thiry for SJU are going to have to plug up the middle, especially in the early games until the Offense gets settled in.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I don't know what my problem is but I'm drawing big memory blanks.  Does anyone remember details aboot the trip to Canadia?  How did the QB/WR/RB situation look?

(I'm not hung over, just distracted.  Can't pull up the memories.)

I did my own homework and googled a few articles. I'm looking forward to this year. ;)

Forecasts call for Fight with a heavy dose of Cardinal and Blue.

But my personal prognostication is that Air Johnnie is due to make a return appearance.  After having a read of the articles again in the clear light of day, dimmed only by rose coloured glasses, I see a bigger but greenish offensive line (good for pass blocking), an unavoidable fall in run production, and all coupled with a couple QB's that seemed willing to sling the pigskin.

Also, with Jimmy now firmly settled back in as OC, I think he'll start shaping the O to take to air like the offenses of old which were so powerful.

This year, maybe a few sputters, but very promising and intimidating. The next two years after that?  Linfield will wish they had the air attack on their best days that we'll be putting on the field.

For anyone keeping track; I heard Frank Haege on Reusse today and he said Ayrton Scott is trying to catch on with a pro team at some level.  He tried the NFL and CFL workouts had several offers for Europe but turned them down and at least for now it sounds like he is trying to land a spot on an Arena League team. My money says he will make the Arena League and then try to move up. Sonnenfeld is finishing up with his degree and will be a coach at Osseo this fall.

This is MIAC week on Reusse's show on 1500 with Fasching tomorrow night and Caruso the following night. Reusse is knowledgeable about the MIAC. He says he goes to 3 or 4 games per year and he is wondering how AUG will replace Scott and Sonnenefeld. Sounds like a young Auggie team this fall with plenty of starters graduating last year. :o

Mr.MIAC

My personal prognostication is that the Tommies will dominate the MIAC on both offense and defense. The Johnnies will offer some defensive pushback, but they won't be able to put the necessary points on the board. The Auggies will be green so this is a rebuilding year. Bethel is a wildcard.

It's a long season, and while there could certainly be injuries to key players, or breakout players on other teams that could shake things up, it's certainly easy to see UST making it through the MIAC without a loss.  The Cobbers will probably be up competing for 3rd with BU, I would wager.

Agree that SJU is the most likely candidate to beat UST this year, though I don't think they will, and that both SJU (due to, as Oz pointed out, figuring out life after Sam Sura) and BU (still unsettled QB situation) are a season out from being able to take UST off of their perch.

What does Gus Davis look like without a seasoned and talented QB running the show?

DuffMan

U$T has got to be a favorite with Roberts returning.  Hopefully, SJU can hit the ground running and cement a QB and RB quickly.  I think they have the talent, but they'll need to polish things up.  They've had some really nice recruiting classes the past couple years, too, so things are looking bright in Collegeville.
