Medical hardship seasons have definitely been granted in those types of cases, but I have no idea how often or how automatic it is.

I reviewed the NCAA rules, which he would meet (3 games or < 30% of the season). Is NCAA the same across the board or are there nuances for D3?

I hope it works out for the kid. Apparently he worked his butt off this summer with hopes of giving some NFL tryouts a go after the season. Not sure if he plans to stick with the seminary thing going forward. I got most of my info from my old spiritual director who is on staff at the seminary.

I hope he gets it.  It would be nice to have Roberts, Parks, and Trettel together in the backfield next year.

With a 3 headed monster in the backfield, a pair D1 transfer QBs  and a list of speedy & talented receivers, UST should be averaging 800 yards of offense per game in 2017.......
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I think we are pretty content with averaging 100 players get PT for our home conference games.

It's one-third of the season, and rounded up, so it would be four games.

Given that J-Rob redshirted at South Dakota, next year would be his 6th year (I think?). I've seen some indications that that can factor into the redshirt approval process, but I'm far from an expert in this stuff.

Does that include the 60+ guys wearing their pajamas and riding in school buses with placards in the window "UST Offense Futures"/ "UST Defense Futures" like the number on the bus isn't enough for them to find the correct bus?

A cool link for any GAC lurkers, or anyone interested in MIAC history and old game footage. This is the 100th year of Golden Gusties football and they put together a video featuring a handful of memorable plays over the years. Some of the highlights are the old Clemens Stadium, the old Metrodome, 2 hook and ladders, and a lowlight for the Jays. Enjoy. https://youtu.be/2mu-_rXLWGE

-2 yards rushing? :-X We will see if the Auggies can improve upon that embarrassing rushing total from yesterday, can't get much worse. Should be a festive crowd on Saturday.

Doubtful he would get another redshirt year.

It's happened before. But when it happens at Division I, it appears to be worthy of a headline, so as I said, I don't know how often that comes up.

Week 6 of the 2016 season in the MIAC

It's the last chance weekend to take in a double-header in the conference this week because St. Olaf travels to Hamline for a night game at 7:00 pm. On paper the Pipers should post a W at the final buzzer. The Oles staff will look at last week's video and try to emulate their cross-town rivals, but I don't see them beating the home town team.

Gustavus has their bye this week.

Bethel goes on the road to play somewhere in Northfield, as they take on Carleton. I expected Hamline to win this past week, and they didn't. I expect Bethel to win this week – so I really hope that my expectations are not precursors to losses, because Bethel has to win out, except against the Tommies, to end the season at .500. Kudos to the Knights for knocking off the Pipers.

St. John's travels down to Minneapolis to Augsburg, for what might become the most lop-sided score in the conference this coming week. Definitely a game between two teams that are both rebuilding. The difference between them is the depth of their benches. Once the game is in hand, the Johnnies will most likely put in as many players into the game as they can.

The game of the week is St. Thomas traveling up to Concordia in Moorhead. Weather doesn't look to be a factor in this game. The Cobbers have been grinding out wins by controlling the time of possession. This is a good strategy if you can keep the other team out of the end zone. While the Tommies will be thwarted more than usual, they will come away with another victory on their march to win the conference. It looks to be their last real test until playoffs start in another 5 weeks.

Looked like it was maybe a shoulder injury on a punt return that put Tusler out. He had not done much and was giving ground on the return on the play he appeared to get hurt. The video caught him coming off with a limp arm ... and later carting from the field. Looked very -- and understandably --  frustrated. Tough to see.

Yeah, it looked like he had a brace on that shoulder already, so most likely aggravated something.  I've been impressed with him thus far this year...he looks a bit lighter and faster than in past seasons.  Hopefully it isn't something that will bleed into basketball season as well.

I was impressed with BU's freshman QB...getting his first career start as a freshman against SJU is a very tough draw, but I thought he handled it well.
