I apologize if this has already been discussed - but what is the likelihood of him getting a medical redshirt?  Didn't he already have a redshirt year at his first college? Isn't there some sort of a 5 year clock or something that players have  to use up their 4 years of eligibility?
He's going to have to apply for a 6th year waiver as well.  As far as I can tell everyone who had a true zero games played redshirt season and another season with less than 30% of games played cut short due to an injury has gotten a 6th year.  I follow the Bison and I don't think there was any doubt that Zach Vraa would get his 6th year.

With respect to a sixth year and Roberts being a seminarian, I wonder what degree of influence/control his home diocese has on the decision to go a sixth year if approved for a red shirt?

The reason I ask is that, in many instances, a seminarian's home diocese has a financial interest as it pays for, in whole or in part, the education of its seminarians.  Depending on its policy and the discretion of the vocations director, the Diocese of Cheyenne may say, "Jordan, playing football has been great, but we cannot bear the financial burden of paying a sixth year of pre-seminary."

Now, it's entirely possible that in reality exactly the opposite scenario is true, whereby the Diocese would say, "Jordan, your playing football has brought a substantial amount of positive exposure to the priesthood and the Church. Keep playing if you so choose."
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

....Wasn't there talk he was (if not injured and had another great season this year) going to attend Pro Days to see if there was any interest from NFL or CFL? How would his home Diocese react to that scenario?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Given that he just entered seminary last year, I would think it's likely that he has a fair amount of philosophy to still complete and would be in seminary for a while, whether he does that at SJV or does "pre-theology" as a "major seminarian"

I'll be heading up to Bethel today with the 4-yo boy. Anybody else gonna be there?

The dome is up over Gagliardi Field. Might as well win out and have some November (and December) practices underneath it. https://twitter.com/sjufootball/status/792133844522508288

Traveling to Northfield (where I grew up) to see GAC take on St. Olaf. I look forward to seeing the new turf field. Anyhow, my freshman is on the travel squad today, hopefully he'll see some playing time (NG #76).

I was there with my younger son - though he is 22 and a recent BU grad.

Excellent. I had a few nice chats with some Bethel folks. He seemed to enjoy despite the weather. And hid under the ketchup/mustard table to eat his hotdog at halftime, which worked pretty nice.
Was a fun and tough game. Our goalline defense came up big, else it would have been much closer.

Caught most of it online...UST defense looked solid when they needed it, but the offense was sloppy.  Also, 13 UST penalties for 101 yards didn't help.

Figured it would have been mostly over by halftime, but was surprised by the 7-0 score.

The only other UST game I've seen was the SJU matchup where they looked better.  Today's version would struggle to advance past the second round of the playoffs.

And if things work out right it will be SJU meeting them in the second round. I can only hope.

The top 25 is out.  Essentially no change.  Tommies in 4, Johnnies at 8, and the Cobbers getting 10 rating points.

Carleton has their bye this week.

The first game on this week's docket is Concordia travelling down to Northfield to take on St. Olaf. There was a post elsewhere on the D3 boards a week or so ago to the effect that Concordia's loss to Jamestown was like them losing to St. Olaf. So, we'll get to see if that's true this week. I think the poster was over-stating their position, as the Oles don't stand much of a chance in winning this game. The Cobbers have to win to keep any kind of play-off hopes alive.

The second game is St. Thomas travelling to Gustavus. I suspect this will be the most desperate score in the conference this week. The Tommies are on a roll to lock up their automatic qualifier to the play-offs by clinching the conference over the last two weeks of the MIAC schedule.

Bethel travels down to Augsburg to try to avenge their losses to the Auggies the last two seasons. BU needs the win to have any hope of a .500 season. This is not a for sure scenario, as the Auggies seemed to have Bethel's number the last couple of years. Should be a good game.

For me, I think the best game in the conference this upcoming week is Hamline going up to Collegeville to take on St. John's. This will be the "tune-up" game the Johnnies need after being off this past week. Provided the Johnnies and Cobbers win this week, it sets up the de-facto Pool C bid game the  last week in the season.

I that was me, and no, I was not overstating my position. At the time I posted it, the Concordia win was Jamestown's only win, and in most well-respected computer models, St. Olaf was rated at about the same level as the Jimmies. Jamestown has won their last two games and shown improvement, but it's still a really, really, really bad loss for a playoff hopeful team.
