57Johnnie - It occurs to me that 5 Words or Less has got to be your favorite poster.  ;)
He is at least included in a small group that you are a member of.  :D

Pardon my English.

Was Kruger moved to RB earlier this year? I have a faint memory of that but not 100% certain.

He's been a RB since Freshman year, last year as Soph he had time in mop up duty late in games, but had trouble holding onto ball trying to gain just a little extra ground. He was out first (maybe second game too) with some sort of minor injury. He made the most of his time & now with Taylor tweeking a hamstring in Hamline game he is rolling. He just gets stronger with every game.

Last week there was mention of Simpson playing SJU-I realized I was thinking of the 1989 playoff game-Rickey Gales was Simpson RB-all American I believe-he was held to like 30 yards in first half and had like 150 in second half. SJU won that game on the final play or pretty close, on a pass. Yesterday reminded me of that game.

I'm still coming down off the high from yesterday. What a great finish.

Gales ran for 389 yards in that game. It's the record for a Division III playoff game.

So Johnnie fans, how does "The Drive" 80 yards in 2:10 with no time outs and a TD as time expires rank in all time Johnnie Magic finishes? Does it get elevated in stature because it was a play-off game?

"Gales saved his best performance for last, rushing for a then all-divisions record 389 yards with 4 TDs on 51 carries in the playoff loss to St. John's. Simpson out-gained the Johnnies 560-440 but turned it over 5 times, including the game-winning fumble recovery for a TD with 44 seconds remaining. "

I was curious; above is from the Simpson site. Not sure, but I think the yards you referenced may have been Jackson from Coe. That was a Johnnie blowout on a cool day - believe a poster or two played in that game.

Ok-Wow-I can't remember! I do think he was somewhat limited in first half-but maybe not. And I thought it was a pass that won the game, but fumble recovery-but almost the last play-I guess. I should just stick to SJU won the game in dramatic fashion.

It ranks up there with the AO rally some years ago against the Cobbers but this one does have play-off status. :)

I would put it behind the drive to give John the record against Bethel.

We fumbled it into the endzone and recovered it for the winning touchdown.  Mike Ramler caught it and then fumbled it and Todd Fultz recovered it.  Gales was a beast!  Our field was a skating rink and it was impossible to get traction, he would find a hole and hit it and our guys would slide by him, or would get dragged along for the ride.  I was on the kickoff team for that game and remember being so pumped up after we scored and thinking, "I'm going get down there and lay him out!". Ha ha!!!!  I was the first guy down there and unloaded on him as hard as I could and I swear to God I thought I disintegrated on impact!  My shoulder was on fire and I did everything I could to hold on to him as he carried me for 5-10 yards before other guys jumped on him and we were able to take him down.

There is a very long list of magical Johnnie finishes. I couldn't attempt to pick.
