I once regaled my sailing buddies with a recitation of Buffett's "A Pirate Looks at 40". I'm sure I could reprise that one....

Mother, mother ocean,
I have heard you call.
Wanted to sail upon your waters,
Since I was 3 feet tall.
You've seen it all....

A salesman drove into a small town where a circus was playing. A sign read:

"Don't Miss The Amazing Italian".

The salesman bought a ticket and sat down. There, under The Big Top, in the center ring, was a table with three walnuts on it. Standing next to it was an old Italian.

Suddenly, the old man dropped his pants, whipped out his huge male member and smashed all the walnuts with three mighty swings! The crowd erupted in applause and the elderly Italian was carried off on their shoulders.

Fifteen years later the salesman visited the same little town, found the same circus and saw the same faded sign that read, "Don't Miss The Amazing Italian".

He couldn't believe the old guy was still alive much less still doing his act! He bought a ticket. Again, the center ring was illuminated.

This time, however, instead of walnuts, three coconuts were placed on the table. The Italian stood before them, then suddenly dropped his pants and smashed the coconuts with three swings of his amazing member. The crowd went wild!

Flabbergasted, the salesman requested a meeting with him after the show.  You're incredible!" he told the Italian, "But I have to know something. I saw your act 15 years ago and you were using walnuts. Why the switch from walnuts to coconuts?"

"Well," said the Italian, "My eyes aren't what they used to be"   :o

Fins: I spoke with a Johnnie bud of mine who goes to school at Tulane in New Orleans last night.  He said the Buffett performance at Jazzfest was rediculous.  It was wall to wall people as would be expected for the 30 dollar entry fee.  There was no Hamm's on tap so he snuck a flask inside.  Which brings me to an important question...when will we see $10 for a beer at your fav sporting event?  I have seen $7.25 at a venue in Miami and almost shat myself.

Looks like Johnnie fans in southern minnesota will get a chance to listen to games this year as a station in Waseca signed on to broadcast games as well.
Radio Broadcast

There are internet broadcasts, too, right?  That's probably the best I'm going to do in Northern California.

Yes tmerton,  the Johnnies are always on the cutting edge of technology...However, you will soon find out that that internet feed is delayed often times by a couple of plays.  So if you are in contact with anyone in Collegeville at the game your surprise may be spoiled.

Seems to me that the Js should be getting around to live video webcasts soon.  Mr. Klinkner, we know you are out there and reading, can you make this a reality??

I would recommend the NO Jazzfest to everybody as an event you must experience. I've been twice. 1st time saw Jimmy B play later on Friday at his Margaritaville Bar. Next year to celebrate a significant milestone in my life, I am planning a 2-3 week long road trip, perhaps in the Pace Arrow, down the great river road to the delta. Catch the Jazzfest for one or both weekends, then roll on up to Churchill Downs and slurp mint juleps at the Derby. Then make it home in time for the fishing opener!

But $7.25 for a beer? I guess we were paying around that at the Target Center even 5 or so years ago, but we had the "privilege" of waitress service in our seats. After they went on strike and came back and promptly jacked up the ticket prices for the same crap product, I told them to stuff it. My kids were disappointed until we went out and bought the 65" Mitsubishi HDTV for less than half of what one year's season tickets cost me.
Now I can watch what I want, when I want it, from a much more comfortable seat, and not have to stand in line to pee. And for $7.95, I can now get 24 Hamm's beers.

And I'm trying to keep your karma rating from hitting the -500 mark, but it's sorta like trying to bail out the ocean with a dixie cup.

Someone must not like what I just said as I just took a hit. :o . TDT, don't drag me down.

Is it too early to do our picks for the 1st week?

Yes, I'll have to gather up some cell phone numbers on Labor Day.

Glad to know the J's are on the cutting edge; video webcasts would truly be great.  Otherwise I guess I'm going to have to try to get bootleg copies of the football team's video.  Anyone got a nondisclosure agreement?

Looks like a 3-way tie for 1st after week 1, as SJU, Oles and Cobbers will win, and Pipers, Royals and Tommies(suck) will be 0-1.

The oil companies and airlines are going to make a good living off us over the next four years.  NWA should get out of bankruptcy much sooner than anticipated!
