For any jazz fans out there, I have been enjoying listening to Nancy Harms lately. She is a Concordia grad! Look at me with my red blinders off! ;)
She is good :) Compare her 'bye bye blackbird' to Amy Winehouse.
You are waaaay to young but tell me what you think of: 'Minor Swing' or 'Limehouse Blues' by Django Reinhardt/Stephane Grappelli. 8-)
.......or 'How High The Moon'.  ;)
I had never heard of Django Reinhardt or Stephane Grappelli. I enjoyed them. Another young female artist that I enjoy is Halie Loren. I am a bit biased because her sister is a friend of mine. 8-)
Almost all of the great guitar players of all genres since 1935 claim that Django Reinhardt had the greatest influence on them and their playing.
The older the violin - the sweeter the music!

With the firing of J Robinson and now Claeys, Coyle's making it clear that he's not going to stand for crap.  I think his firing of Robinson was a poor decision (truth be told, I've been a huge fan of J for a long time), but I'm glad to see Claeys gone.  I wasn't a big fan of his from the start, but recent events have been a huge red flag.  I just hope that Coyle can bring someone in to move this program in the right direction.

Where are the Caruso rumors???  :o
I have been following Gopher Football forever and this entire scandal and coaching change (seems like forever) and I did see Caruso's name come up a few times and one was actually serious.

J had to go. All you old wrestlers have the same opinion, that he was somehow robbed. He deserved to be let go.

The U's Athletic Department is a total joke and I have no clue how they still get donors.
The donor base is going extinct.
1. Paul Giel
2.Pinky McNamara
3.Murry Warmath

The Gophers have not been a national power since the early 1960's. Something has to give. Wisconsin, who sucked worse than the Gophers prior to 1990 (the arrival of Barry Alvarez) made their program attractive to coaches & recruits. I think Minnesota, with the proper leadership can as well. Let's hope Mark Coyle is the proper leadership.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Coyle and Kaler confirmed this morning that they met with Fleck and his agent in Chicago yesterday.

Hayden Fry turned the Iowa program around in the early 80's much the same way Alvarez did for Wisconsin.  I've always figured if Wisconsin and Iowa can have relevant football programs so could the Gophers.  Hire the right guy, don't handcuff him, and TCF Bank Stadium could be rocking on Saturday's.

Very early, but it looks like Fleck accepted the job at the U. Stand by..........

Sounds like they are talking to Niumatalolo at Navy too.  Bringing a triple option offense to the Big Ten would be...interesting?  I'm personally hoping they go for Klieman.

As much as I hate to say it, as I think his heart was in the right place, this was the correct call. As a criminal defense attorney, I have represented many parents who have flushed drugs, deleted Facebook accounts, destroyed cellphones, all trying to help their kids out, but wind up with a charge themselves. I know he was trying to protect his athletes, but this was an adult criminal drug conspiracy that could have wound up with felony convictions and serious jail time, went beyond a couple of teens making a mistake, and he deliberately obstructed justice.

That wrestling scandal might have contributed to Claeys being let go.  Kaler and Coyle might have felt additional pressure to clean things up.  Regardless of the legal outcome of the football scandal what might have been Claeys' downfall was never even admitting that anything was wrong.  Rather than blindly backing his players, he would have been better to support the team but say what happened was terrible and that he too would work on cleaning up the culture.  Might not have changed the outcome, but without that he was doomed.  Penn State came back from their low point, hopefully the Gophers can climb back up as well.

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

As a side note, it's sometimes depressing that everything in the human condition has been understood and recorded, much for thousands of years.  Seinfeld documented the last frontier of undocumented human interaction, inane trivia.  What's left?

(even that observation was first written about over 2400 years ago: "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.")

I know J Robinson was a successful coach but I always had the sense he believed he was above it all.  Really never cared for him much...sorry Duff.  He likely could have been charged w/ a felony.

.....and it's official! Fleck is the man for the Gophers and he is Mark Coyle's signature hire.  :D

#3 Augsburg Wrestling is in the semi finals of the National Duals vs #2 Ithaca this morning so it's a good day!

It's official. Never listen to my predictions. Call me the Macalester of making predictions--I had a good run way back when, but now I'm completely irrelevant.

In other news, Toms will win the football National Championship in 2017.

"[Fleck has] met one of the major qualifications of the Minnesota job already: losing to Wisconsin."

No way Fleck jumps into the Goofer dumpster fire.  Keep dreaming. I'd rather stay at WMU if the U of M job were the only option to move up (which it's clearly not).

Bennie would surely welcome him out Eugene-way with all that Nike money.
