Speaking of turf, JWP, the old home of Bob Zimmerman and myself, has gone big-time with a new football field. Looks pretty sweet. SJURube plans on making a few pilgrimages there this fall.

For the safety of the opposing teams and players I hope the acoustics are good. Last time I saw JWP was a few years back and their players had trouble playing after the whistle. If the new facilities help the program improve one could see their football players transition very easily to the college level at UST.

And if they really excel at pushing and shoving after the whistle, I'm sure there will be some spots on the SJU coaching staff when the time comes.

Bringing a couple of newbies along tomorrow. They just so happen to grow sweet corn, so we'll bring a few dozen of that.

Game Day

I am definitely ready for some football!!! It is super smoky here. Oregon is literally on fire!!

Nothing was pretty in that game.  Scholastica were massively down on previous years and the Johnnies were up and about.  The second string was in at the start of the second quarter.  Fourth string defense started the third.  Third string kicker took that last few XPs.

It was ugly all around.

The game might not have been pretty, but it was great hearing the Johnnie announcers again. I didn't realize how much I missed having them be a part of my Saturdays!
