Today is not the day to wear red around town. The Ducks are playing Nebraska at home! 8-) ;D

Go Big Red!
:P

I've often wondered how you got over 1100 smites, bennie. I've been posting here a long time and I can't  remember you being that fiesty. It must have been Tommies with no sense of humor.
I'm sure I earned them one way or another! ;D

I'm actually pretty sure this was mostly the former serial sniper from the NWC board. Sad case, that person.

I presume the abundance of smites that the few Tommies brave enough to show their faces here receive are from Johnnies with no sense of humor.
First of all jam, +k From me. I told USTBench today that over the years, the best visiting fans I have seen have been from the MIAC. (Bethel students #1  :) )

Thank you USTBench for accepting my invitation and spending the day. You never know what relationships bring in the future.

Reading some of these posts, I wonder if people think that UST played the little sisters of the poor. Well they didn't. They played a WIAC team used to tough competition and while having had a few tough years maybe has improved. Big time.

You don't think these Stout coaches feel the heat and recruit/work harder? If your job is to defeat Whitewater, Platteville, Oshkosh, La Crosse, Stevens Point and every other team in the league and you are just going to take it is what's happening here and your team is going to waltz in here and play average and win?

Nope. UW-Stout is a team that has been successful in the past. They are on the rise and will be tough to beat in the future. It's not a free pass. Why anyone has thought that hasn't really paid attention.

These are my thoughts. UST is a very good team. UWST is on their way. D3 relationships are awesome.

Right back at ya. Congrats on the win. I was at the game last year and Stout had a decent showing. Good to see teams rise up to the competition and add an extra challenge. Maybe we'll see that in the MIAC with Hamline, Concordia... maybe Olaf? Kind of bummed that Bethel looks to be struggling.

We've got some kinks to work out and need to avoid the stupid penalties as usual, but I've got to keep my optimism and believe we can knock off the Johnnies (clear favorite now?) and make a run.

I thought that Stout look fast, quick and some great team speed on both sides of the ball.  I know that the Tommies will not see this much team speed until deep into the playoffs.  It was good to get this type of game out of the system and will clean things up going forward.  I also believe the O-line needs a lot of work, but they will jell and have an awesome running game and great pass protection we come to expect.  We will be 2-1 and the one trick pony university will be 3-0 headed into the showdown at Target field.

It was also great to see that all the 40 something and 50 something Johnny posters on this board had a little meaning added to their lives this afternoon - it was fun for even me to watch the cyber butt slapping, the big red comradery and aren't we great spirt.

I thought the Linfield folks saved all their hatred for the UST fans?

Anyway, would it be looked down upon by the powers that be if my, uhhh, friend smote some Johnnies posters in an effort to even the score a bit? Asking for a friend, definitely.

Uffda, 3-6 week for the MIAC in non conference.  Obviously good wins for the Cobs and Augsburg but a pretty rough go of it elsewhere.

Did anybody notice that MAC beat Hamline to win the Paint Bucket? If they still played in the MIAC they would have 2 conference wins this season.  Shout out to Snelling and St. Clair avenue...get your ass back in the league for football or just get the hell out all together.

Maybe OU should take a team picture there too?
What Baker Mayfield did was complete BS...but a team photo after everybody left the stadium wouldn't be that big of a deal.

The Auggies looked good today especially in the 2nd half. Need to clean up a few mistakes and get two d linemen back from injury that did not play today.  I like this team, the coaches are recruiting very well these days.

I'm not embarrassed there's an
accusation of NWC serial smiter.
I get plenty of negativity from MIAC/WIAC.
I'm with that guy who asked who in hell is mighty St. John's (and that's rare for me and may be the cause for - ) playing?

OzJohnnie

Apologies everyone.  I didn't mean to start the Spite Accusation Wars.  I should have thunk before I posted.

I watched most of the SJU - Presentation game yesterday. If any of the "others" think that the Johnnie opponent was a patsy, they have another think coming.

My take-away was that Presentation played well, avoided mistakes (as pointed out by the announce crew), and were a big, strong test for the Johnnies. SJU just played better, and made plays, using their speed - especially Krueger and Clark - to get the win.

At least the Tommies had the balls to schedule teams that could give them a game.  I hear St. Michael-Albertville high school has an open date for next year - lets get coach Fasching their phone number.
Thanks for the suggestion BUT there are plans underway to have a game with former Melrose High School All Stars. With the likes of Blake Elliott, Tom Linnemann,Ben Seiben,Brian Zerbes, Noel Meyer and a cast of other former Melrose players this should be a great match up. Granted, these guys haven't played football in 15+ years, after posting brilliant careers at SJU ,but they still have the heart of a champion (you can never take that away) I'm going to snap up a bunch of tickets and sell them on the secondary market. It should be a great game!  ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Ran out to the park for a bit with the kids this afternoon and came back home to discover that my best friend's wife, a Stout grad, was VANDALIZING my home with nasty Blue Devils signs and chalk graffiti everywhere.
She put about 10 of those signs on various windows, doors, and even on my recycling bin. And to think, these friends joined me for Tommie Johnnie last year and were doing the same this year. Anybody need a ticket? I might have to sell both of their tickets and find some new friends  :P

The Cobbers have put together a nice highlight video of their victory on the weekend.  They were very stoked.  A couple things popped out at me.  First, they have an offensive lineman, #65, that is about the size of 2.5 normal people.  And it looked like the smallest guy on the CON team was the one that got around the end and tripped up the RB to win the game on the last second goal line stand.

I don't think SJU can qualify as a rival anymore. Sad. Used to be such a storied program. I would say it's probably UWO or someone with more national prestige.
...someone like UW-Stout..... ::)

And it's out. As usual, things are heating up in the MIAC.  http://d3football.com/top25/2017/week2

The Johnnies move up to 7th.
The Tommies fall to 10th.
The Cobbers enter the rankings at 23rd.

From our WIAC neighbors UWW fall out of the rankings and Stout enter at 25th.
