Does anyone know if the SJU/UST game will be broadcast?

There is a link to a webcast on the Tommie website so it looks all systems go for Tommie video and VOJ audio.

Thanks.  I didn't check the Tommie site.

Good enough for the NFL, good enough for the MIAC.

It sucks in the NFL too.
The old Met.

To really get the spirit of an old Chargers-Raiders game on the dirt, Charlie Jones and Merlin Olsen will call the Johnnies game.

Glad to get back on the Underground. Local paper has really cut back on SJU coverage from what I have seen.

@sowilson

You're an Ole, right?  Will you be at the game or online here?

We shouldn't be surprised by this.  Don't get me wrong, I'll be at the game, but this is a D3 PR event put on by the Twins.  Who would pay for sodding the dirt, the Twins, the Johnnies, the Tommies???  And quickly laid sod is sometimes worse than just dirt.  If UST had a football field or campus they were proud of this probably wouldn't be happening in the first place.

That's my thought...wasn't there a super bowl recently where there was freshly laid sod that led to poor field conditions?  Maybe it isn't as big of an issue for soccer, since it doesn't involve needing to plant and gain leverage against the ground in order to block or tackle someone, but it seems like it just wouldn't work well for football, with rootless sod sitting on top of dirt.
Playing this game during the baseball season is probably a little silly. I haven't put down much sod, but have done enough to know that it probably wouldn't be ready to play on in less than a week. The covered the dirt for ND and BC but that involved a hella lot more $$$ and was played in November.

It probably made sense when no one thought that the twins would be playing meaningful games at the end of September and the field could be doctored, now what is likely the MIAC championship game is going to be played on a Class AA high school field...
Everyday is payday in paradise.

All I can say on this field issue is trust the Tommies to make a glorious event like the biggest DIII game likely to ever be played, and in a big time stadium no less, into a circus.  Sort of like a Midas Touch but turning things into cheap party favors instead of gold.  Perhaps we should call it the Caruso Touch.

Good luck to your son.

In the weekend's news, I'm picking 49-7 the Johnnies over STO.

Are you talking about the old track under the football field/outdoor track grandstand? That thing was awesome. The turn were so tight. I think I heard the latest flood caused the end of it.

Is there a traveling trophy for this one like a plate of Lutefisk or a reproduction of the 95 Theses ?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

No, just home field advantage for a massive beer pong tournament in January, I think, shish I didn't say that, did I?

Yep, but that track died when they remodeled the interior and put in the lockers, weight, room, and stuff. At the north side of the building there is a remnant of the embankment and old track.  When I was a teenager (early 70's) we use to sneak in to play handball (they had handball courts and one squash court), workout in the weight cage, take a sauna (which was coed), and ride our bikes around the track - or actually do something constructive like work on track starts.  Of course the streaking craze started with Carleton and they use to publish the "Streaking Times"

Anyone in the Bemidji area later today-SJU v BSU in rugby at 5 at Chet Anderson Stadium.

Also, how about this, BSU was supposed to play U$T in rugby next Saturday, but U$T will forfeit due to lack of players-they all want to go to the big game-can't blame them!
