Mr.MIAC

I hear Johnnies tend to be upstanding gentlemen.

I think that means that it's a great joke but would probably fit the St John's rural University stereotype better. Us Tommies have excellent dental insurance and impeccable hygiene because most of us have Dentists, Doctors, or, lawyers for parents, who paid for our education and still cover our insurance through our trust funds.

Although they must not teach grammar at UST. It's "We Tommies...."
Oui   :)

Us Tommies know how to make a joke at us-selves too. We also know how to properly quote a previous comment.

Grammar are overrated, bennie.
And I minored in Humility.

Honestly, I wish I fit some of the uber-rich UST stereotypes. But I come from a lowly small-town Iowa background where my dad fixed tractors and I spent my weekends and summers sweeping the shop, turning a wrench, washing combines, and pumping waste oil. I probably would have fit in better at SJU than I did at St Thomas, but nonetheless I wear my purple proudly and appreciate the opportunities and life experience that UST gave me. It's not such a bad place.

Actually, you don't. I'm not taking sides here, but you're still one quote off of getting it right, just as retagent and 57Johnnie were.

The quote string should actually look like this:

Did I do that?

Watching Ole Miss / Cal playing a 2 point game in the 3rd qtr.  Ole Miss d-line just got called for hands to the face / helmet.

Last night at Woodbury High School couldn't believe that under a minute to play and Royals trailing CDH by 7 they just let CDH take a knee w/ out blowing up victory formation?

Guess U$T #91 and team just plays by different standards.

Some STO game thoughts before I get lost in the glory that is Johnnie/Tommie week.

@ STO never quit. The played tough from the beginning to the end so it took a long steady grind to get well on top of them.

@ Defensively STO are very aggressive. I reckon they blitzed on at least 60% of the plays. It was very disruptive to the Johnnie play, but surprisingly it didn't seem to affect the stat sheet. The numbers were very similar to the first two weeks but it felt like the STO defense was much more stifling.

@ Offensively STO had no run and one successful passing drive. The Johnnie D looks very scary.

@ The Johnnies are fast and deep. This team has a lot of talent and potential.

@ I was surprised at how the Oles blitzing spectacular put the Johnnies off for a while. This was hopefully a great warmup for this coming weekend against the blitz crazy Caruso personal foulers.

@Greg: I am aware that was messed up but that was from a previously goofed up quote. I just didn't go back and fix it for demonstrative purposes.

Time to put that one to rest Oz, you use it once a year, just like your "teeth brush."

I think it's funny as hell. Took me a little while to get it which I'm not sure what that means.  :-[

I think it means that you live in Wisconsin...

This is pretty funny actually. And don't forget the public university education!

Why was Stout's game against TCB cancelled?

Silly faunch. Here I sit and you post this in the WIAC. As the only regular Stout poster I never post there. Way more fun in the MIAC.

To answer your question, Trinity Bible College cancelled the game a couple weeks before the season. Unable to field a proper team I guess. So this week was open, next week was a bye week, then 2 weeks on the road against Platteville and Whitewater. The Blue Devils go from September 9th to October 14th between home games.  :P

Mr.MIAC

So I know we're just at the start of Tommie-Johnnie week, but have most Johnnies already left for the Twin Cities? I figure it's a lengthy journey. How long does it take to pack up the wagons, water the horses, and say farewell to your sturdy Bennie? I assume someone has to watch over the homestead...

PurpleReign

I think the real question that nobody has asked is this:

Will the johnnys reach the playoffs this year on their own merit, or will they once again, need to climb on to the Tommie train and get a ride in?

Good to see the Vikings are back to their true form this afternoon.

We are good to go. The crops are in, the hay is baled and bennie is finished with the early canning and already has her skates sharpened waiting for the pond to freeze over. The game is so early that we haven't butchered yet so there will be no pickeled pigs feet for the game. BDB says the cider isn't hard enough yet so we will rely on Duff's home brew.  :)

Here's a new tagline for the SJU marketing folks: "Bringing Walnut Grove to the MIAC since 1920." Oz can play Pa Ingalls. Duff will be Laura. Faunch is perfect for the role of Nellie...
