Put me in the group rooting for the Tommies. No matter what SJU has to win out to make the playoffs and at 9-1 will they will. So as long as I'm playing out the future I have no problem saying I'd like Concordia to be in the playoffs with us... but it's not going to happen. UST, at home, with their raucous capacity crowd, won't lose against the Cobbers backup QB.

Homecoming. This may not be facetious.

Last year Augsburg was the UST Homecoming opponent and we drew a crowd of 5,300+  :D
This year the Auggies are the SJU Homecoming opponent and I bet we draw more than that at Collegeville, probably 10-11K+ eh guys!  :D

Such a dubious honor we have but we do draw well........

That's one heck of a sight.  Shame about the purple border.  ;)

Here you go, Oz:  Johnnie/Tommie Print

So I was thinking about ordering one of these from the UST bookstore. However, shipping on the $199 item costs $108. SJU's store is charging $20 for shipping. What's with the disparity?

If I had to hazard a guess, I would say that they know there are suckers out there willing to overpay for a piece of paper with UST on it! ;) 8-)

I think if I'm SJU, I secretly hope UST beats the Cobbers, and that I win out, and that Stout has a great year. I think that's SJU's slam dunk Pool C bid.

Correct.

You wouldn't mean a piece of paper like this one, would you, bennie?

I went and checked back to 1999 (as far as d3football.com had stats) and this is what I found:

* A 2 loss MIAC team getting in over a 1 loss MIAC team: Never
* A 1 loss MIAC team not getting in: Never
* A 2 loss MIAC team getting in: Twice (UST 2014, SJU 2001)

We talk about a three-way tie at the top almost every year, but it hasn't happened since 1979 (when we had a four-way tie).  In fact it's only happened 2 times in total (1979 (CON, SJU, STO, UST) and 1935 (GAC, SJU, STO)).  I think it will sort itself out.  If CON beat UST, then they are very, very likely to also beat SJU.  If they lose, then they are likely to lose to SJU.  At least thems the likely outcomes based on the example of the last 97 years.

As an addendum, we've only had a 2-way tie for the championship 17 times, 6 of those in the last 50 years and 11 of those in the first 47 years of the MIAC.

We have seen 2 loss teams get in over 1 loss teams the last couple years, especially with a strength of schedule differential. Add in a H2H win for the 2 loss team and I would say it becomes even more realistic. The Scholastica and Presentation non conference schedule do not look good from a judgmental view, especially when all the West Region coaches under the sun know Oshkosh was out there searching for a game on the same date and would have played all comers.

If you are an SJU fan I think you are rooting for a VERY close win by the Cobbers. That way you know going into the game with the Cobbers if you win by X margin of victory you get the playoff spot.

If UST wins the door is more or less closed on the auto for SJU and then it comes down to selection time. You would really like to think the SJU / Concordia winner gets in, but who knows at that point.

I am intrigued to see how Stout does against Whitewater this weekend. They lost a nailbiter last weekend to Platteville. And with Oshkosh still on the schedule this is must win territory for them to have a shot of getting in. It also will be interesting to see if LaCrosse is for real in the coming weeks.

To be fair, we (SJU) won the MIAC in 2001, so we were a pool A selection.  Not sure about UST in 2014.

They were second in 2014.  SJU took the championship while CON and UST tied at 2 losses each.  CON missed out.  That was a year where there was quite a bit of discussion about a conference finally getting three teams to the playoffs.  But it didn't happen for realz until last year with the WIAC.

UST was second in 2014, and went to Wartburg in the playoffs. That was the year that Wartburg won the MIAC  8-)

$199 for this piece of paper/$108 for shipping?  Sounds about right.

Perhaps the U$T charge includes hand-delivery by one of those stunning, buxom blonde coeds that are apparently the norm at U$T.

....Or, price gouging on the shipping  :o
This is somewhat not unusual,  the shipping is a % of the item(s) being shipped instead of the weight of the item. The UST bookstore (and other retail outlets)use shipping as a profit center. It doesn't give you a warm & fuzzy feeling, but hey it's free enterprise.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!
