I think Greg Schiano came up with F.A.M.I.L.Y. at Rutgers, and Fleck is part of Schiano's coaching tree. Case dismissed.

So, perhaps Fleck has some license he is operating under from Schiano?  Then it's CARUSO that is the infringer! I knew it! I had a good, non-Johnnie bias reason to hate this guy all along.

I'll fix the caption:

PHILIP JOHN FLECK,
and GREGORY SCHIANO,

Plaintiffs,

v.

GLENN CARUSO, personally and in his capacity as head football coach at the University of St. Thomas,
STEVE FRITZ, in his capacity as athletic director at the University of St. Thomas,
and THE UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS,

Defendants and all around bad people.

Excuse me. Everything I've seen suggests that Fritz is actually a pretty good guy.

Hey Old Auggie,
Did you see that your boy, Owen Webster, set a Gopher record for fastest pin this weekend?
I did not see that! Do you have a link? I only noticed that he did not win a title at Daktronics.

He may be a pretty good guy. But sometimes pretty good guys let their subordinates willfully and wantonly infringe upon the slogan rights of others. Such things cannot be allowed in a civil society.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

OK I found it! Nice! I am not totally shocked but it is a nice surprise for a Monday.

"Another notable accomplishment on the day was a match by Owen Webster. The transfer was able to pin his opponent in a Minnesota wrestling record, 11 seconds. Webster eventually finished third in his first appearance in Maroon and Gold."

Well from that grainy picture the coach certainly doesn't look very tall...and he is wearing a white shirt.  I can tell the game was at St John's though.  I bet the Johnnie radio guys had a thought or two on this.

VOJ nearly had a brain aneurysm...listeners could have been easily forgiven for thinking the anti-christ was desecrating Clemens Field. Lots of "evil empire" talk. All because Caruso's passion carried him 10 yards or so onto the field...

Ha!

I actually enjoy his play by play...very smooth for D3 and quite enjoyable to listen to.

...and, for non SJU fans, it's fun to hear him lose his mind about calls / non calls.  After Bethel beat SJU in the MIAC basketball championship last year, I went back and listened to his call during the closing minutes, where there was a bad call that went Bethel's way.  VOJ did not disappoint.

He is certainly entertaining, if the listener can take his homerism with the proper perspective. I really enjoy listening to his interviews with Coach Fasching, where he tries to put ideas in Fasching's mind or get certain reactions out of him (the negativity towards the Target Field game was particularly amusing). Fasching counters him well with his calm, reasoned approach.

For sure - if you're wanting a commentary that at least attempts to be slightly unbiased (they're all cheering for their guys somewhat, and that's great), he's not what you want.

His counterpart on the football games is the master of reigning him in on his more "creative" opinions / thoughts / reactions.

I didn't listen to the target field game at all...what was his beef with that?

The VOC (voice of Cobbers) - particularly the play by play guy, but also the color, are actually my favorites in terms of announcers who make for very good listening for the visiting team.

He was just very opposed to the whole idea of playing at Target Field and made every effort to highlight the negatives of it and to get Fasching (and whoever else) to talk about what a sham it was.

Schools of fish swimming in small ponds have their big fish. When these schools get the chance to swim in a lake (albeit on a day pass), there's plenty of excitement. The lake is huge and has lots of bigger fish. However, some pond fish can't survive long in lakes. They thrive in shallower waters, where they're the big fish. These fish fear the lake. They also fear that if their school gets a taste for the trappings of lake swimming, they'll be viewed as smaller back at the pond.

Yes, be aware of boats rowing at the surface

;D
The boat is rowing very hard this week. Trolling with a Rapala during the full moon for big walleyes.

I let my season tickets lapse a couple of years ago, but I'll have to renew again in the coming years.  Should be a pretty solid team this year.

Did you see that Gable Steveson cruised through the tournament?  The kid is a freak.  I'm glad he'll be a Gopher next year!

I'm actually a national security guy, but it's fun to get a little creative sometimes.

Yeah I agree the kid is a freak.  You had season tickets, you are a fan for sure.  Can't blame you for letting them lapse as it was a mess for a little while when they fired J Robinson. Glad to know they will be solid again.

I'm not being sarcastic at all when I suggest you two should have a bromantic night out at Gopher Wrestling.
