I'd like to see Linfield play the Johnnies in the first round... but I donated my SJU Sweat shirt to the homeless.

No, you guys are wrong.  The Tommies wrote the book on postseason success.

I believe they even wrote the book on writing books.

Is that like a coffee table book about coffee tables?

Ha!  You made me do this with my afternoon coffee.

Otherwise known as charity for the Tommie without a trust fund.  I always knew you were a swell guy, Bluenote.

Quadruple post - my apologies, but I've been busy lately and just found something interesting I didn't know.  This is a d3hoops topic but is interesting enough that I thought it could use a mention here.  John Oliver, #11 for SJU, is missing a left hand but is still a star for the team.  This photo turned up in the SJU sports feed and I thought it was a photoshop or a glitch so I did a Google search to see who this guy was (not following hoops I have no idea who plays for the team).  Anyway, a tribute to human determination.  It's great to see someone not letting a disadvantage hold him back from being great.

Every Veterans Day Nov. 11 at 11:11 am the sun aligns perfectly with the Anthem Veteran's Memorial in Arizona and shines through the ellipses of the 5 marble pillars that represent each branch of the Armed Forces, illuminating The Great Seal of the United States.

Saw this on Twitter, thought it super cool. (Click to enbiggen)

That's pretty awesome!
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Man, what a wild finish in this one last night...

http://www.startribune.com/59-seconds-3-touchdowns-maple-grove-rallies-from-17-points-down-to-win-playoff-game/456614183/

I heard some buzz about it on twitter and flipped over just in time for the 2nd touchdown followed by the 2nd onside kick. Both onside kicks were very simplistic. Short little dribblers right up the middle, with a wave of front line guys blasting the STMA guys and the kicker and 1-2 others getting the recovery. Perfection execution from Maple Grove on the offensive side as well. It was a 1 in 100,000 type of scenario, where every little thing had to go right for the better part of 4 minutes. Cant imagine what the STMA staff and players are feeling today.

Congrats to Chris Husby of Special Teams Football Academy.  Chris was the Special Teams coach for MG last year and coaches the specialists at UST this year.  I think he has 24 kickers, punters, and long snappers in the metro teams playing in the tournament this year.  I'm sure the MG kicker is one of Chris's students.  A lot of the specialists in the MIAC have been coached by Chris (GAC kicker and my son (NG & LS) to name  2).  He's a very special resource for Minnesota football.

Since the last post on the MIAC volleyball discussion board was on September 17, 2013, I guess I will post this here:

The Bennies and Tommies ran into a pair of good teams at Northwestern yesterday in the first round.  I lent as much support as I could from behind the mic (I was positive towards all teams).  Very nice crowds considering it was a Thursday afternoon.  Gusties survived and advanced to the regional semis.

Ive heard his name quite a bit. Filling quite a niche with at UST and with his academy. College coaches in D1 & D2 are going the scholarship route with specialists now, including long snappers. That has opened the door to special training with guys like Husby. I think there is a UST alumni kicker out there doing a similar gig.
