Dougherty Family College it is a selective, two-year program offering an associate of arts degree in liberal arts.  ::) :P ;D

So what's your problem?
Its just a vary wel writen marketing messege.

I received this message in an email today and actually know a student that was admitted to the college this fall. Of the criteria listed for potential students he demonstrates all but 5 of the 6.

I agree. Here are a few tweaks, though:

By now you've probably heard about St. Thomas' new Dougherty Family College. If not, here is a quick snapshot of who we are. Dougherty Family College it is a selective, two-year program offering an associate of arts degree in liberal arts. The program is designed for students who:

1. Demonstrate a high level of financial need
2. Want to proceed directly into a bachelor's degree program upon graduation
3. Demonstrate the personal maturity and readiness for higher education
4. Demonstrate the perseverance, resilience and commitment needed to achieve educational goals
5. Have not had ready access to academic, economic, social or other support resources that facilitate academic success
6. Will not require remedial coursework to succeed
7. Have been accepted to St. Johns up in Collegeville, but seek a better chance at success

Yes U$T is a basstion of eggcellence. To think that kids attending U$T junior high school won't require remedial coursework is both naive and irresponsible. These are the kids I work with everyday.

Do SJU freshmen need remedial coursework? I think that's the group of prospective students UST's targeting.

Gentleman. Let's leave UST's academic bowl victory back before the playoffs, as we both have important 2nd round playoff games to focus on.

Wait. What's that?

Oh. Sorry Johnn1es.

Mr.MIAC

To be honest, I'm slowly backing away from aggressive bantering with the Johnnies. It was fun to breakup the Johnnie Smokefest, but that's because they were dominant and needed to be brought down a few pegs. They haven't been all that successful in some years now, and at this point it almost feels like kicking someone when they're down. I hope the Johnnies right the ship because it's more fun when they're competitive.

Does St. Thomas still have the 6' 9" tackle? Jeez that guy scared the beegeebees out of me!  :-[

He gone. Graduated the last season UST and Linfield played I think. This years line is still big, but smaller than that 2015 group.

Linfield looked like they were clicking on all cylinders last weekend. Here's hoping another UST - Linfield this layoff battle is in order next week.

Yep. Simmet graduated in 2015. Hilbert, the other big boy tackle graduated last year.

As a J-Club Board member I'll provide some additional context. I'll use information posted on our website and news releases to avoid losing anything in translation. "The Gagliardi Trophy, given annually since 1993, recognizes excellence in athletics, academics and community service."

In the release that went out today it was noted which semifinalsts were 2017 playoff participants. "Eight of the 10 semifinalists (addressed further down the press release) played Nov. 18 in the first round of the Division III national playoffs: Breunig, Gono, Kasper, Sacia, Smith, Wilcox, Wyse and Zubik.

With Gagliardi Trophy talk, and having a semifialist from Springfield, I coincidently learned WWE (WWF for the less inclined) was a d3 foootball player at Springfield. He's now a member of the schools hall of fame and wil most certainly be a WWE hall of gamer. https://springfield.prestosports.com/information/ahof/HOF_Bios/Cena

This might be old news to many of you but it was news to me.

+k on Gagliardi info

Never knew this about Cena. They better use his intro music somehow for their games.

Duly noted.

In that realm, I forgot to mention in my "evidence of UST awfulness" that our first punt by Perra was actually a double reverse pitch back to Perra to punt it. It was a lot of razzle dazzle for minimal impact. I wonder what they were hoping to achieve with that, as ultimately I think it let Eureka get a couple guys deeper down the field to down the ball.

Just out of curiosity, was it really a 'double' reverse? For example, qb hands off to rb who goes to the right and then hands off to a wr going back to the left (which would be a normal reverse) and then to make it a double reverse the wr would hand off to someone else to come back to the right. I know most people incorrectly refer to a reverse as a double reverse. Not a big deal, just a pet peeve of mine and wondering if it was really a double reverse as I have hardly ever seen that.

I guess you are right. The 3rd pitch happened, it just went back to the QB.

I am excited to see Berry give St Thomas the biggest challenge they had in a month or so.
It'll be good for this young program to see how far they have yet to go...

Biggest challenge in a month or so is not a tall bar to cross, so I hope that's the case. Recently found out that a friend of mine and his wife are Berry alums (2004) and they are decent people, so I'll assume that the rest of you are alright.

With all the talk of academic superiority, I'm surprised (NOT) to see this. This is not a logical syllogism.

1. Let me help you out here with your quoting, so that folks can actually understand the insult you are attempting to toss my way.

2. I was not aware that I was making any attempt to construct a logical syllogism, so thank you for condescending from your tower of St John's Academic Superiority to inform me of my error. I merely thought I was extending a kind gesture to an opposing fan, with an obviously farcical extrapolation from a small sample size. I will learn my lesson and refrain from such attempts at kindness on your message board in the future.

3. I believe if you review the discussion of academic superiority, you will see very limited commentary from me. I am well aware that UST has some folks that are either not intelligent or should just keep quiet and not display their stupidity. I imagine there are some folks like this that attend(ed) SJU. Both schools may even have a few representatives from both camps here on this board. Maybe some consider me a part of that camp. I'll let you be the judge of that. I attempt to remain self-aware and keep things light here.

4. Seeing as you completely missed the context, I'm going to assume that all St John's folks are equally obtuse. (See, it works!)
