jamtoTommie asks over on the OAC board, "If winning a game or two is the cure for this observed "hostility" then why do we still hate Bethel so much even though we've beaten them consistently in recent years?"

Probably because you realize that winning does not equate to being classy.  ;D

Shhhhhh art. I'm hunting Johnnie fans. They like to believe they are our true rivals, but we all know it's you.

Damn it's slow over here. Nothing like the Ohio board. Where are the Johnnies when you need them?

Safe travels to the St. Thomas faithful making the trip to Central Texas. Pack your sunscreen. The forecast is for mostly sunny, temps in the upper 70s and a slight wind out of the south. It looks to be a perfect day for football!

The Bethel women's hoopers were very classy in defeat last night.  First win for Northwestern over Bethel since 1988 (though we stopped playing for 20 years after that game).   Especially suprising considering Bethel won this Snelling Avenue shootout by 40 last year.  Every rivalry needs a little good-natured hate.

We've talked before - both graduated in 1957 from our respective schools. Like your last post.
I would leave out the : fishing, hunting, hockey and that other stuff. That would leave only the beer!
Damn, we older guys have our priorities straight. I knew I liked you from the start.
Go Johnnies (OK, next year). And, I'll just slip in a Go Raiders.

Still here, there's just not much to say.  There's been very little chatter out of St. Glenn's apostles this week.  Have you all resigned to the Monkey StompTM that awaits in Texas?

A lot of St. Glenn's people have been on the OAC board. I guess they don't want to talk about a potential monkey stomp in Texas. Damn, I hope it plays out that way.
Good luck next year to the Johnnies!

We're mostly over on the OAC board antagonizing the Mount folks, apparently. Stirring up trouble is what we do best. There was some decent football analysis early in the week, but I'm not an Xs and Os guru. I have been watching what I can find of the UMHB team and the speed and athleticism is terrifying. If we beat them, I guess it's a vindication that St Glenn's low down, no good, dirty, classless tactics do work.

Looking forward to attending tomorrow night's hockey clash between UST and Augsburg. I don't see this weekend going well for the Tommies, here are my picks:

Friday                Hockey: #3 Augsburg vs UST
Saturday            Hockey: #3 Augsburg vs UST
Saturday            Football: #4 UST vs #1 UMHB

Not really. Pretty cavernous over on the ASC board. Tried starting some chatter with a really long post about UST's team and how they operate, no takers. So I migrated over to the OAC board which is pretty en fuego right now. Second most interesting topic of the year, outside of the Occidental football team versus the AD debacle.

Also, the UMHB posters are pretty nice dudes.

I foresee a very close, low-scoring game. Something like 8-7, with UST winning on a behind-the-back two-point conversion...

I kind of wish that instead of allocating the budget towards an international trip, that every few years or so UST would schedule a Linfield or a UMHB, or some other top tier program for a home-and-home. I'd like to get to a game in some of these places and it's a bit easier to plan with 8 months notice than one week notice between the holidays.

From what I understand, UMHB is currently looking for a non-conference game for the next couple of years. Coach Fredenburg has shown he will play anyone, anytime and anywhere. Who knows?
