What do you mean thank God it was only Busch? Hey, if I want to splurge and step up from my usual Milwaukee's Best", I go for a "Busch Light". Many old Mount Union alums, like myself, use the savings to support various charitable causes.
OK! I lied. We're just cheap.
Must run now. We're going to hold a wake for all that beautiful beer that has gone back to nature. It' s a sad day in Alliance.
Go Raiders! Go Warhawks! And for OzJohnnie, go Johnnies.
Oh, what the hell! Go everybody ☠ 🍻 ☠

Thank god it was only Busch.  :)

Is beer measured by the pound for shipping?  You learn something new every day about Man's most perfect creation.

Makes sense. The truck load weight isn't going to be measured by barrels.

Former Carleton WR Chris Gardner was featured in this week's episode of Dragon Skin tearing it up at QB for the Shanghai Warriors in the American Football League of China.

The whole episode and the whole series is great, but Chris' highlights are towards the end of this episode if you want to skip ahead to about 3:20 remaining.

MUC, I thought you were probably on the fastest route to Florida to help with all that spilled Busch! I too, must admit to a fridge full of Milwaukee's Best Light! Anybody that drinks Miller Lite is paying about $6/case too much. MBL is the exact same recipe and even comes from the exact same vat (it is just the bottom of the vat) I had a buddy that worked the line at Miller Brewing. He said when they have finished the Miller Lite run, all they do is change the labels/cans start the line again and run MBL until the vat runs dry. If you compare the label analysis you'll see they are nearly identical with only slight variations accounting for time/settling in the vat. There you have it! Drink up my friends!

Thanks for the info. I knew it was Miller's. Perhaps I'm not capable of making sound decisions regarding the purchase of beer. After all, I'm old. I get mixed up and I forget things.
I never even heard of it until 2 years ago. A buddy recommended it.
Florida? Florida? I thought it happened in Salem, Virginia. We know how to get there. (Sorry, had to slip that in there. I'm so ashamed of myself for doing that. Think I'll pour a MBL and try to forget!)
Sure hope football season starts pretty soon. What has happened to all of us in the interim?
It's certainly enjoyable chatting with everyone on the boards. Once the season starts, no more Mr. Nice Guy. Oh, rat farts, (thanks Caddeyshack for that) I promise to still be old, relatively uninformed and having fun following Dlll football. Good luck to all of our teams! ☠ 🍻 ☠

If it's shipped by container (boxes, kegs, etc), the bill of lading would list the weight.

Perhaps I am committing heresy, but I say the spill of Busch is a benefit to humanity.  Kind of a 'culling of the herd' for beer. ;D

And, yes, I confess to being a bit of a beer snob. 8-)

I'm not too smart but the Internets can make me look it.  It turns out that there's an algorithm for calculating shipping costs for liquids.  This site describes the general rule:

For example, some carriers have been implementing an Item in their tariff that applies a 65% rule to liquid products and now to dry products: If the amount of liquid exceeds 65% of the container volume the applicable rate for the liquid is to be applied to the shipment. However, if the liquid content consumes less than 65% of the container's volume, then the higher of either the product rate or the rate applicable to the empty container multiplied by the gross shipment weight will apply.

http://pnglc.com/how-packaging-can-affect-the-cost-of-shipping/

So, there you go.  It seems the common practice is that if you fill up the truck then you pay the rate of shipping the liquid (I suppose milk costs more to ship that water).  Less that 65% full and you pay by weight - which I imagine is more expensive.

Now, was that Busch truck more or less full that 65%?

If you are still in OH, I would think that Yuengling would be only a stone's throw away. It's worth a few pennies more for some good stuff.

Can you get Yuengling in MN? How about Rolling Rock "Green Light"? If so, anywhere in the Twin Cities? They don't carry either in Total Wine.

Yes, I live in Alliance, 5 blocks from my alma mater. Have had Yuengling in the past. It' s ok I do have a few others from time to time, like Watney's, John Courage, Dos Equis, Corona, Tecate, Heineken's and others. Some are hard to find. But overall, "Milwaukee's Best". Hey, it's cheap !
But thanks for the tip. I need all the help I can get.

I've never seen Yuengling in MN.  Rolling Rock, yes.
I'd heard about Yuengling for years.  I didn't realize that it was just a run of the mill domestic lager until we visited my BIL out east.  It's fairly cheap and better that Anheuser and Miller-Coors offerings, I guess, but it's nothing special.
