BlueDevil Bob, you and the WIAC guys are always welcome here. As I have mentioned before, I think you have one of the most competitive conferences in the country in football. Beautiful cities where your colleges are located (Eau Claire, Stout and Point immediately come to mind) and fans who know how to party. Add in Camp Randall and you have a state with a great tradition for college football.

ROR--
Thanks for the pub!

Interesting first day.  I get there and get settled in.  Moved some of the furniture to how I like it.  Got rid of some of the crap.  Started unpacking my two boxes of stuff from the old gig.

I find two sports pages I had kept in my old desk drawer.  2003 Stagg victory by SJU ("The Perfect Season") and the Red Sox world series championship ("It's over Babe!").

I look behind a file cabinet and see two 18x24 frames that were unopened.  I opened them up and framed the two sports pages and hung them in my office.

Yes, let me repeat, I have a framed Star Tribune with Blake on the front hanging in my office.  Pictures to prove it coming tomorrow.

Convo from Sun at G.O.D:
(Someone spots JR's Johnnie shirt and says, "Yeah, Johnnies!")
JR:  "What year are you?"
Kid:  "1998, How about you?"
JR:  "1975"
Kid:  "Cool, that's the year I was born!"

K102 was talking about lawn games this morning.  A guy called it "Hanger Balls" and they laughed a bit and the other guy goes, I think "Polish Horse Shoes" might be a better name.

Polish horseshoes is a totally different game involving some boards with holes drilled in them and big washers that are tossed into the holes.

A more PC (politically correct, not Pat Coleman) name for our favorite Stiftungsfestivities game would be Ladder Golf, but I've heard it called many different things.

A tradition unrivaled...

Thanks Johnnie Red, but even I wouldn't let some of those yahoos in.  :D

Did I ever tell anyone on this board how much I appreciate my friendship with Touchdown Tommy and what a class individual he is? That I can only hope he is awarded the Johnnie alumni of the year award someday because of everything he does for St. John's.

And how much I adore Bethel University and their football/athletic program! That I am still working on getting my two children to transfer from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Colorado-Boulder to Bethel so they can be enrolled at a far superior academic institution than where they presently are at.

666 - If you believe any of this, know that the end of time is here. :o

Gentlemen!

My good friend from accross the border Blue Devil Bob tells me that people are wondering why I have been MIA from the board recently.  Aside from the usual excuse of being very busy...I miss the banter and need to frequent the site more often!  Blue Devil Bob has informed me that he is planning on attending the SJU-UWRF game at the Natural Bowl this fall!  Johnnie Red, Duffman, OldSJU57, TDT, etc....we need to show BDB and his son the very best atmosphere in small college football!  Bring out the Stifgunfest burgers and fire up the grills...I am jacked up for that day and it is only June 6th!

Hope all is well with you all..I will be in touch!

Funny SamWill47 story...Last fall after sitting in the rain all afternoon watching the BlueDevils take a 10 point lead on Whitewater and then watching it go away I am home to change into dry clothes before heading to the post game party.

While doing so I am listening to WCCO's "College Football Report" or whatever it's called.

During the show the host brings up the Whitewater-Stout game so I call in.."Bob from Menomonie."

No sooner than I was on and hung up the phone it rings...SamWill47..."BDB that was you wasn't it!"  :D

Here's a couple of other names for 'Hang Your Balls' that I have seen

Bolo Toss
Rodeo Golf
Hillbilly Horeshoes

Joke du jour:

An elderly couple were attending church services.

About halfway through she leans over and says, " I just let out a silent fart, what do you think I should do?"

He replies " Put a new battery in your hearing aid."

Welcome to 06/06/06.   ::)

My first assignment in the Navy was on the USS Black (DD-666).  Never been the same since.  :o

Hey, Fins - what's up with the avatar?  All I'm seeing is a little red x.

Fins, fix it up!

There, how's that? I started to change it yesterday and it didn't work right away then I forgot. It's the new Pace Arrow Annex. I want you to be able to belly up at the Stiftungsfestivities so you're rested for the shotgunning contest.
