Just wait until Stewart comes back and Gardy sits Kubel because he's too stubborn to play Cuddyer at third, or sit Lew Ford.

Good call.

The prospect of Kubel off the bench is intriguing, however if he sits and .190 Rondell White remains DH, I may have to make the drive up to talk to Gardy personally.

Does Tiffee get sent back down if/when Sierra is back? I'd rather keep him and send down White or Lohse, at least Tiffee can play a position in the field!

If the Twins bring Sierra back up, I only hope it's to prove to the world that he is alive so we can trade him and get a Double-A left-handed setup man ... or a bag of balls.

I can only hope the release of Tony Batista is a harbinger of sanity.

You sounds as impressed with Sierra as I am with Lohse and White combined. Maybe we can package Sierra, White, Lohse and Silva in exchange for a real live starter or a DH who can actually hit for power!

Heck, I'd be happy to trade those 4 for a dozen dome dogs and stadium mustard.

Of that list, I'm willing to let Silva work out his problems a while longer.
I'm willing to let White retire.
Willing to let Lohse get his ERA down to maybe 7.50 so he can be traded.

The option of Batista while retaining White baffles me-neither one should be playing pro ball-maybe Terry Steinbach has room for em on his New Ulm Amateur team.  Problem with Cuddyer and Kubel is they need to convince one of em to catch a ball now and again so Gardy can play em both with a clean conscience.  The only stat Sierra might increase is the average age.  Let him go- maybe he can make some change endorsing Viagra alongside Palmeiro.  Stewart has to displace somebody (White) and Sierra needs to be put to stud.  As for Lohse- eh,who the hell knows...  Keep Silva though-I think the dude might make something of himself, but he needs some meaningful appearances outta the pen to help the confidence.  Save the down-by-12 outings for glorified BP pitcher Crain.

Man.....

I sat down at 10:30 to get caught up, and here I am at 2:30 am.........oh well..had to be done...
foolish of me to relapse and then go on vacation!!!

TDT, was tempted to contact you when I was in Longboat Key, but the Mrs. had me on a busy schedule!!

Seems in catching up, I didnt miss a whole lot.....

except the fact I have had 14 of the worst 50......I still think Cold Spring Returnables should be on the list!

My bit of Johnnie Innovation 2 weekends ago..

I was driving from Alexandria, where I was coaching the mighty Flyers T&F team at the Section track meet, to Lakeville where I was to be an usher in a buddy's wedding.

Being in full track garb (hat, shorts, etc...) and running about 30 minutes behind schedule (time needed to get there, shower, change,etc..) I swing into SJU, shower et. all on Mary I, get dressed in the tux.  As I am walking out of the bathroom, Father Don is in the hallway talking to someone, looks at me and says, "Man o live Ritz, You never cease to amaze me!!!!"

September 30th will be a great day!  My 10 year reunion, coming off 3 straight days of golf, no wife and kids (not that they'll be gone, but more koolaid for the rest of you!), and the prospects of being off the heavier drugs I am on now since my relapse!!!

Intangibles can be described - for starters in no particular order, "intensity, desire, toughness, courage, withstanding pain, motivation, discipline, leadership, willingness to sacrifice, poise, judgment, rising to the occasion, teamwork, emotion".

finsleft, I was at the Class IA state baseball tourney banquet last night here in Chaska and actually stood in the food line with a woman who rivaled the woman pictured in the new Google ad (yes, I know her name is Pamela Anderson). Terry Ryan was one of the speakers at the banquet, as was Jim Dimick, the long-time Ole baseball coach. Always a nice program for the players. Great to see Sleepy Eye St. Mary's in the tourney again.

Anyone on the board ever been to Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tenn.? My son and two of his buddies drove down there yesterday. Sounds like a great rockfest. Of course, he had to borrow his dad's tailgate cooler. I'm sure that was to keep the Gatorade cold. ::)

That's funny!  I can picture Fr. Don saying that ;D

Hope you're recovering well, buddy.

BDB

BDB's got a crazy night tonite.

I get to stand up in front of 10,000 people and introduce Sawyer Brown at the Rice Lake Aquafest.

It will be the fourth year in a row of doing so, and I figured out early on that a few Hamm's before going up on stage helps out the program.  ;)

Speaking of baseball, go Village High today-- state 2A baseball tourney in Cloud-town, taking on Roseau this morning.  Go Huskies!!!

And to link baseball to football, I completely dropped the ball about a few Johnnie football players that were in the Strib yesterday in a story about their road trip to major league ballparks.

I talked to Tommy Wentzell about it yesterday- hysterical trip-- lots of Hamms and strange places.  Wish they would have invited me!!!!

Last note, KR, my bro has his boards this morning too-- another Johnnie football player completely stressing his mind out for medicine.  Good luck Nate!!!

Awesome article!

QuoteStang opted out of the NBA game to study in the van, where the crew had been trapped all day by rain. He saw a would-be thief testing car doors, so he unlocked the van, waited for him to open the door, then jumped out and scared him away.

Not sure if that story or the part about some dude's mom making them pizza at 12:30AM is better.

Best of luck to Nate, I'm sure he'll rock it! Being done is the best feeling ever and the 1st beer after being done is the best beer ever!

Esq- read that article last night. What an awesome trip and a great story! I'd like to hear the unabridged version. :o Good luck to your team and your brother!

BDB- I'm jealous! 10K fans, and Hamm's in your contract rider. Sawyer Brown puts on an awesome show. I've watched them from the stage wing at WE Fest a couple of times. Great act!

JR-Hopefully you were in front of her looking back.  8) Did you get the digits?

Ritz-shake it off, man. We need you in game shape in a couple of months.

Seems like y'all covered the Twinks pretty well and I agree with all of you, so lastly, a Fr. Don update. He flew to San Fran yesterday for the summer months. Seems he hates the MN heat and the 68 degree SF temp agrees with him more. Rumor has it, he'll be hooking up with tmerton to score some free meals and to do some advance scouting on #2, see if he's Seminary material. ;D

Great article.

Anyone going to South Bend on Aug. 12 to see Gags inducted into the CFHOF?  The trip package on gojohnnies.com isn't a bad deal.  If you go, make sure you go over to the ND campus and check out a fb practice and the new football training facility.
