Is he good?

I don't know.  The coaching staff seem to like him, but I've usually lost some interest by the time he gets into games.  Plus, they're not throwing a lot of passes at that point.

Interesting podcast this morning - thanx Pat and Keith.

Keith picked River Falls to knock off Oshkosh this week. That would sure shake up things in the West Divisional Poll, because Bethel's win over River Falls would take on a different light. Interesting. Developing? Definitely intriguing.

Edit: Keith picked this game to be within 3 points, not necessarily a win. It might be an upset.

SJU folks - what do you have in the pipeline for QBs post-Erdmann/Alvord? I see Erdmann is listed as a Junior on the roster, but I thought he had followed the same path as Perra? Perra is a senior, although I guess Perra saw the field for the Gophers where Erdmann was a redshirt at PSU?

Sophomore Chris Backes has been taking the 3rd-string reins.

A Couple of things:

I am reasonably sure that Parks is only a junior eligibility wise and that he will be returning next year. I've got to believe that freshmen QB from Loyola Academy (regional offensive player of the year Chicagoland) is pretty good. SJ2 has a freshmen QB from Owatonna that I know is good. We'll see if either of these two freshmen can adjust to college ball and life.

Is he U$T's answer to Ryan Keating?  ;)

Will be returning OR could return? I'll believe it when it's confirmed. Seems odd that the roster would list him as a Senior even though he is a Jr by eligibility.

I think we'll be in pretty good shape at the QB position. I haven't seen Ronnie Jones do anything to suggest that there shouldn't be an open competition next year for the job.

Johnnies have the Owatonna guy someone mentioned, Havelka, and also Reed Smith from Lakeville No. who got PT last week vs. Carleton.  Both freshman.  Not sure what the pecking order will be by next year.  There are some other QB's on the roster of course.

Not at all odd in D3, really.

I don't find it odd that a guy would not use all of his eligibility in D3, but is there not a standard for how guys are listed on the roster - based on eligibility or class status?

I believe that is the case - Perra used a year of eligibility at the U.
From the 2015  Gopher roster regarding Perra:

2015 • FRESHMAN SEASON: Made his collegiate debut as a reserve at Purdue, but did not record any statistics.

Jerry Kill liked Perra but 'ol Jer  never got his name right. Kill always called him Jaque Pierre.

And I think it was the Kill -> Claeys transition where Perra (and Parks) decided to move along. Maybe the same with Erdmann and ?? to Frames Janklin.

What was the story there?  That was before my time following the MIAC.  Did he have something that allowed him more than the more commonly occuring medical redshirt?

I don't think so. It just seemed like from the time he was recruited by the Gophers in HS, until he transferred to SJ2 and then finally graduated he was around  FOREVER! He was just such a high profile guy that everything he ever did was reported on by the media.

Duff, does this accurately describe the Keating saga?

DuffMan

MiacMan summed it up.  He was played basketball for the Gophs for a season (maybe 2?), then, transferred to SJU.  Since he didn't play football at the U, he still had plenty of eligibility.  He was the target of a lot of jokes for being an old man.  He did QB a team that brought home the Walnut and Bronze!
