Ross Denne threw for 408 yards!  I now remember that the U$T defense looked like they'd never seen shovel pass before.
He should have been pulled after 3rd Q. He ended up with a high ankle sprain & was out for 3 weeks. When he returned he was at about 60% & couldn't run the option effectively. The 2002 team should have beaten Trinity in the National Semi-Finals & who know with a QB at 100% what may have happened.

I was at that game.  SJU dug one heck of a hole in first have but got it going right before the break.  Standing at the goal line Jed Rigleman catches a tip toe touchdown the officials called back.  A San Antonio resident standing next to me went nuts when the refs called it a no - touchdown.

It was a gorgeous day in San Antonio and one hell of a rowdy Trinity crowd.

On top of it Blake Elliott was sick with the flu.  The San Antonio reporters were amazed with his performance despite his rather severe ailment.

The game ended with Trinity running the ball on 13 consecutive plays with the margin I believe 7 points.  Jeremy Hood made what looked like a decisive 4th down stop that would have given the Johnnies the ball back.  The same officials called him for a phantom facemask and Trinity continued to drive.

One hella va game.

Go Johnnie.

Game day!  Stuffed a bag full of goodies to occupy the kids.  Gonna go burn some energy off the dog before we head over to [sarcasm] picturesque [/sarcasm] Royal Stadium.

Go Johnnies!  Phone it in!

After seeing the challenge Bethel gave us, any feelings on the upcoming Johnnie/Tommie game?

Johnnies are in trouble next week. Our offensive line stinks!

We gave up one sack, but Erdmann was certainly pressured as evidenced by his two interceptions!

And how many holding penalties were called  on the o-line? At least a half dozen and every time we got yards on the ground we got called for a hold. And our running backs aren't anything special.

I'd totally agree. Tired of St Thomas being who we've been historically! Wish Caruso would move on.

Much closer game than the score.
Will need magic to compete.
The older the violin - the sweeter the music!

Mr.MIAC

I'm not a neutral observer, but if I were, SJ2 is going to need more majic than they can muster next week. Going between the games, it's like SJ2 is in slow motion compared to UST.

sjujohnnie

Fortunately we have the all-time series record on our side! St Thomas would need to win the next 17 straight to take the lead!

DuffMan

That was a better Bethel team than I've seen in a number of years.  The Johnnies need to clean up the penalities.  Not sure why Bethel wasn't called more for holding--Brinket was held/tackled every pass play.

Not sure why Marsh isn't starting for Bethel.

That targeting penalty was ridiculous.  I'm glad Erdmann was okay, but that kid deserved worse than the expulsion he got.

The Tom-toms have up 14 to Auggie Tech?!?!  SJU is good for at least 50, then!

Remain calm. There are 7 days to tighten things up. Have faith my friend.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I think it's a positive sign for the conference and Bethel that Bethel is trending back upward. They had a nice recruiting class, plus a handful of transfers, and some coaching and schematic tweaks.
